For sale BX GTi Auto

Post by Al Williams »

Most of you are aware of this car one way or another!
Mot until December Tax until the end of this month.
Keeps blowing the fuse which controls the engine cooling fan/rev counter.

I have not had time to do anything with the car as I am busy at work and with my other project (Ascona) and need the space on the driveway.

Indeed she hasn't been driven since returned with the fault when I sold her on eBay.

The first £100, no offers secures!

Tel 01526 344694 or email me on algtj at tiscali dot co dot uk

Would rather she went to an enthusiast than be broken for spares in my hands.

Many thanks Al Williams

Sounds like a bargain to me for a car with tax and test.

This is one I was tempted by a while back..

If I bought it would I be able to drive it back to Essex? That is, is the car drivable with that problem? Are there any other problems?

Cheeky I know but - Sleepy, could you possibly help me disgnose/fix it there O:) It is near you...

On the assumption that the cooling system is otherwise in good order you will only need a fan if you stop or have to run it in very slow traffic. If the outside temp is not hot you may be able to manage on the heater fan if you are careful.

Otherwise if the fan motors are sound wire one to the battery using an in line fuse and a long cable run into the passenger compartment and with a switch that you can reach - so get stuck and turn it on.

Personally I'd collect the thing in the middle of the night and try and find a clear route home avoiding towns and places where you were likely to queue.

I'm going for this one this time. As my other BX is going to need some work this summer, I'll need another B to maintain my 'fix'.

Assuming there're no further issues with the car, I'd say it's a deal. Just waiting to hear from Al.

AARRGGHH! Fate has stepped in and for reasons revolving around domestic white goods (not just the wife  ) I am NOT going to be able to buy this car. SOMEBODY must consider this opportunity as Al has been wonderful and he's bending over backwards to be helpful...

Al, mate, theres an e-mail and a PM gone your way I tried your phone without luck.

I am gutted.

Hmm, I wonder if this car can be saved. I have a cunning plan, more later though no guarantees...

Thanks for keeping my in the picture Phil (Iv'e emailed you back)
You have at least kept me in the picture every step of the way, which is more than most seller's can hope for. :D

I wish you well with the house move and hope to here from anyone else!

Thanks everyone, in anticipation!

It reminds me a few months ago I was looking for a Triumph 2000 on eBay and came across a lovely dark blue one not too far from me.
I was tempted to email the chap concerned if he would swap it for the BX, I never did and it sold.....
Then shock horror I found this site and saw the very 2000 was owned by a BX club member......! :D
