I have decided to part with my BX 16v, you can read about its early days with me here http://www.bxclub.co.uk/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17262
My friend who was doing the bits of bodywork has closed his bodyshop, so I drove it home yesterday, about 15 miles without any problems.
I hope it goes to a BX enthusiast, i don't want to break it, its far to good for that!
The issues with the car are;
1. Both rear arches need attention (one has been repaired, just needs finishing, see photo)
Bonnet and roof need new paint (work started on bonnet, see photo)
2. The A pillars going up the side of the windscreen have a few scabs(I think screen removal is best to check)
3. I also think the flywheel teeth maybe damaged, the starter has been changed for a new one, but it still makes a bit of a noise when turning over.
The good points are many, The front end is in excellent condition, the door hinge areas are excellent and so is the engine bay and inner wings. The suspension works as it should. The engine was rebuilt by the previous owner, by a garage. The compression is excellent on all cylinders circa 204 psi.
127k on the clock and I believe this is genuine.
I have also accumulated a few parts to go with the car;
Excellent front passenger door, to replace the original, all prepped and primed ready for paint.
Good used 16v rear bumper.
Excellent sunroof, with no rust on the frame.
Various rear lamps etc, some new, need to check.
New front leg return pipe assemblies.
Including the original purchase price of £500, I've spent around £250. Considering the interior, wheels and engine, I've been told I would get around £500 for the engine, but I haven't really looked in to that and like I have already mentioned, this car is too good to break up into parts.
£650 for everything.
Bx16v for Sale.
Re: Bx16v for Sale.
Would normally be interested but I have 2 in similar condition that need to be restored first before I take on more projects
But it has potential, and the engines aren't worth as much as they used to be probably more like £300 at the most.
Regards, Leo.
