Bosh and lucas injectors

Post by pwykes »

Good day

After removing my lucas injectors and cleaning them i was just wondering why the haynes manual specifies two largely different torque settings for bosch (66ft lb) and lucas (96ft lbs) models, I first thought it may be that lucas have a higher setting because there was more threads on the injector, but after comparing then in google images they both appear to have the same amount, must be some logical reason does anybody know.

Crush the sealing ring to fit. Or is one a cone threaded insert.

Well the way I see it the torque setting of any particular device will depend on four things--
1- the materials involved.
2- the type of thread.
3- the length of thread.
3- the overhaul contact area.
Being that the cylinder head is made of the softest material surely it is the manufacturer which would set the torque setting to avoid stripping the threads. Tinkley might be able to answer this one.
