There's usually a Citroen Car Club Midland section rally at Stratford racecourse each year, but that doesn't seem to be in the CCC events calender yet (that's fairly near Evesham?), but the Citroen Car Club X Rally is definitely taking place at Burghley House in Lincolnshire on 26th of April. It's not exactly 'near' Evesham or Oxford but not a particularly long drive either - anyway, you'll be in a BX; they like long drives. :) Hope you can make it.

Both I and Graham Haddon attend the monthly classic car evenings (currently not showing on the website) at The Fleece, Bretforton regularly. I will be attempting Asparafest by invite of the Landlord, but in a Messerschmitt, hopefully.

I can recommend the classic car drive in day at Toddington Station of the Gloucester Warwickshire Railway, next one is in June. Again I would expect to be in something older than a BX.

Castle Combe Track Days require the organizer to be insured. So that was stillborn.

There seems room for a pubnight type event, but it has not jelled into reality. Short of getting the old map and pinboard out, it is hard to know the best location. Seems there is potential near Oxford. There was talk of near Northampton. Maybe there is a trade off between one month Oxford, the other Northampton. Maybe there just is not quite enough interest to get committment enough to create a large enough pool of folk actually attending to reach the critical mass needed to sustain a regular meeting.

And here is my notification if the upcoming meeting this month at The Fleece

'Afternoon All!

Spring has arrived (officially) and after couple of 'optimistic' days,
temperatures here in North Gloucestershire have dipped back to being a
little on the 'chilly' side. At least, being a few days short of the
Spring Equinox (due Friday 20th) the evenings are getting lighter which
is always an encouraging sign! Time to remind you that our third monthly
Microcar Club Night of 2015 is due this coming Wednesday, 18th March 2015.

The local 'Schmitting forecast for Wednesday is not too bad and although
the evening temperature is forecast to be drifting down from a daytime
high of around 11 degrees Celsius to around 4 degrees Celsius, the
weather is expected to remain dry, with a little cloud. As usual, we
will be meeting up with our Heinkel Trojan friends at the Fleece Inn,
Bretforton, from about 8pm onwards. If you should be so inclined,
Micro-car parking is available through the main entrance and on the hard
standing at the back of the pub!

The National Trust owned Fleece is located at The Cross, Bretforton,
near Evesham (WR11 7JE). It is easy enough to find with Bretforton
situated on the B4035 Evesham - Chipping Campden road. The Fleece's
telephone number is 01386 831173, if you need it.

Meals are excellent and good value too, with the Fleece Inn's Winter
Menu still listed (see http://www.thefleeceinn.co.uk/winter-menu/).
Their 'Mains' look fantastic and topping the list must be their 'Honey
mustard glazed Tidenham duck breast, celeriac gratin, buttered cavolo
nero for a handsome £14.75! For those on a budget, Wednesday evening is
'Pie and a Pint Night' when from 6.30pm - 8.30pm you can enjoy a
splendid, filling, home-made 'pie of the day' served with creamy mashed
potato, vegetables, gravy and a pint of your choice, for a mere £8.00!
Should you still have a little room left after that, why not add
something from the Sweet Menu, such as their home-made 'Sticky toffee
and banana pudding, caramel sauce, custard' for just £5.95.

Especially for the non-driver, the Fleece boasts a range of real ciders
and traditional ales par-excellence, most of which come from local
breweries. Amongst the choice of five cask ales you will find their
regular, South Gloucestershire, Uley's Pig's Ear and Wye Valley
Bitter... from the Wye Valley. During March, the Fleece wants to know
what your favourite real ales are and will feature the most popular on
the pumps over the coming weeks. If your top tipple gets chosen, you can
enjoy 'beery' prizes including a half price pint and an entry into a
draw for the chance to win a gallon of it! Vote here:

I have now updated the *KaRo*scene Events page at
http://messerschmittclub.org/karoscene/?q=node/2. I still looks a little
'empty' so if anyone has details of events that the think would interest
other Micro-car enthusiasts, please let me know.

...and finally, a reminder that the MEC London & South Eastern Area will
be meeting at the England's Rose, Postcombe, on Tuesday 31st March 2015,
the *last* Tuesday of the month as usual (and last day).

Do pass this message on to anyone else you think might be interested and
let me know if I should add their name to the circulation list. I should
also ask you to let me know if you would like your name removed too, but
why would you!?

Cheers!

Tony.
