LHM Brands

Post by Toddman »

Quick question about the lovely green stuff that brings the mist of doom :)

I have used many different brands nearly all badged as LHM Plus but is there really much difference between brands?

I have used Citroen, Comma, Millers, Moris, Bendix (nice tin) and not noticed any difference BUT is there a difference to what is goig in inside with seals and such like?

Thanks
Please call me Luke :)

Who would know without a long and sustained testing programme of each product. I personally prefer to only use original Total which has a much stronger and aphetically pleasing colour than some of the others and therefore is in my own mind psychologically better.

I've noticed a slight difference in colour, as to performance & longevity, no idea tbh, i don't think you can tell the difference. I buy whatever at the cheapest price & have mixed up different makes etc....

most people believe Total to be to original green blood used by Citroen,
but my X boss from the 80's ( H G Havaux whatlington garage on the A21 ) told me Citroen originally used Bendix green blood,

Hector Havaux was originally from the Belgium Congo were his father ran a Citroen repair shop, working on the likes of the Traction's ( Avants that is )

although i prefer to use Total i will use Comma and Morris

Thanks everyone.

I do think they are all pretty close but t i snice to use Total when possible.

I am lucky in one respect that my car had a good flush with clean LHM due to a coupl eof pipe bursts but since then pretty much all the pipes have been replaced and any with kunifer along with al the spehres so I would like ot think the internal sare pretty clean.

I just used up my last Total and an oddment of Comma so have gone for a 5L of Delphi a name I seem to know fro the past.

I was silly enough to buy a litre of Halfords own LHM+ as I needed some quickly. Nothing to comment on the quality, but the price  at the time was 3 times that of Morris which could be bought at the local factors when they were open.

Go to the Northern or possibly the X Rally and get it for £4 a litre from Malcolm Lockwood!

Indeed, there is no 50 manufacturers and Citroen is not one. As long as the standard is met, it is good.
My last purchase was a 5liters bosch for 21euro.
