Sun visors

Post by FPB7 »

has anyone got a spare pair of sun visors? The drivers side on the astate has failed and the Velcro holding it up won't stick too well to the roof lining!

I'm around Birmingham but will travel! Also colour not important.

Many thanks

On here for the first time in ages - years to be honest. I'm pretty likely to have got some stashed away along with sundry trim items - condition unknown (but may take a while to find). Is there a particular colour you are looking for? I can take a look at the weekend.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.

Have your tried wrapping some tap around the end of the visor arm to pack it out?

I've got a brand new one sat in the garage, only thing is that I'm not 100% sure if it's a Bx one. I'll check it out this weekend.

Not that bothered on colour as the rest of the interior is a conglomeration of various BXs. It's held up with Velcro at the moment but a sun visor that is usable would be useful when the sun shines!

Which visor type do you need?

There are two common lengths of visor, long and short, dependant on whether you have the box on the roof lining for the sun roof controls/ motor.

Something tells me that all estates have the box on the roof regardless of sun roof fit?

Well, I never knew there were different lengths! Every day's a school day as our Atlantic cousins say. If I measure the old one, how long is the long one?

Have a read thro' THIS thread

I have checked thro' my spares stash for you and unfortunately I only have the shorter ones available from the hatchback models which were fitted with the O/E full tilt and slide glass sunroofs !

Good luck with your search for the longer type !

I confused now. My 88 estate hasn't got a sunroof nor reading lamps but has the "box" so needs longer sun visors?

I need a lie down.

If it's an estate it needs the longer visors.

Indeed. I had a look at the different types of sun visor today while picking up a couple from a BX estate being broken locally. A lucky find but thanks folks for looking in your cupboards/sheds/garages for me!
I now understand about the differing lengths of BX sun visor. That'll add to my repertoire of facts to bore the ladies down the Local wine Bar.
