Erm no idea tbh, it may not be salvagable & depends upon how much its going to cost to get it to work, it may not be economically viable. I hope it can be done, but i've got plenty of other things that are more of a priority than staying less sweaty in summer

The X-rally this Sunday was the 1st time i've driven the car on the road, & i've got to say it brought a smile everytime i gave it some beans, the noise is just amazing. The kids loved being driven in it, the words epic & amazing were used It's not perfect, but still drove pretty well & i enjoyed blasting past quite a few cars, even hitting the limiter in 3rd at one point, oops!!

The kids have called the car Blaze, so thats what she'll be called.

Thanks to Kitch, Barry & Paul (son of Barry) for all their work on saving this beast & getting it to this point.

I wonder who won the Shed category, i thought Blaze was in with a chance, haha....

The good news i've now got Blaze back at mine, bad news is the idle is way too high, but hopefully Peter can find the spare part to see if that fixes the issue. Starting is a bit crap, took about 10 goes before she fired up & then idling at 2000rpm, this is all linked i believe.

The drain tubes must be blocked as it pissed all over me today with all the rain we've been having when i was driving back from work today Wet arse, not good.

Creaking rear makes me suspect the rear arm bearing(s), oh joy.

Starting the car today after finishing work, the squeeling sound was hideous, might be the fan belt? It subsided after a few minutes of driving, but god was it fucking loud.

Rear wash wiper packed in today, worked before, although no water came out of the nozzle, so its either blocked or is empty (oops!).

Speedo head area is very loud, not sure exactly whats going on there. It's also way out, over reads by about 10mph, anyone got any ideas on how to calibrate it?

I think i need an accy sphere, hoping David can post me back my old one off the TXD in exchange for the full new lock set i promised him last year.

Slight graunching sound when accelerating hard, no idea what that is, driveshaft??

Need to get hold of a driver side front speaker grille, mines missing, also need to get all the screws which will make the speakers stay put (both sides), they're all missing as well, not sure if anyone can help out on here? I've got a 2nd hand stereo to fit, as there isn't one.

Rear view mirror needs replacing, mine has some annoying chips in it, its useable but looks shite, anyone got a spare?

Psgr mirror glass is the wrong type, so it makes the mirror useless as its blind spot is similar to the turning circle of the cunard ship, weird, anyone got a spare lying about gathering moss?

Tyres are hopeless in the wet, went round a roundabout & initially got understeer which is what i was expecting & then suddenly the rear came round, i was on opposite lock & didn't think i was going to save it, but it eventually straightened up. Never had a front wheel drive car produce oversteer like that? Drove a bit steadier after that brown trouser moment.

Performance in the dry is great, it really shifts through the gears, & initial impressions of the fuel economy are better than expected. I didn't take any specific measurements, but i reckon it wasn't far off 30mpg which is pretty good as i've not exactly been driving economically. I'm sure the engine wail novelty will wear off

I've given the car a bit of an inside clean, all the plastic surfaces have been cleaned, it was filthy, hopefully when the weather is better it will get a hoovering & then a wet clean as the carpets are pretty grubby.

So, it drives, it stops but has issues, well wouldn't you if you were 25 years old, 1st time back on the road in 7 years & now have 203k on the clock

The graunching turned out to be the alternator falling off its mount, the lower bolt went walkies but the upper bolt was present. Spent a few hours trying to put the bastard back, but could i get the belt on & attach the alternator, no, but i could attach the alternator but then not the belt Eventually went to my local mechanic on the friday who kindly fitted it for me, still not easy to do though. Replacement bolt fitted, so all's well regarding the alternator saga.

Last tankful i managed 374.6 miles for 53.8 litres of fuel, this equates to 31.6mpg, which tbh is not bad considering i've been driving quite hard most of the time, its a lot better on fuel than i thought it would be Makes me wonder if i drove it like my diesel, how many mgp could i get?? Some of the mileage was commuting to work & back & then some high speed running down to little horwood this weekend including a race with a modern sporty jag of some description & a little sprint against a new bmw 520d today. This car makes me drive naughtily

I've not updated anything on here in a while, erm where do i start. In no particular order, i've got those snazzy led foglights fitted, new starter motor, the old one looked like the original, quite a bit bigger & erm heavier, technology i guess has moved on in 25 years Speedo cable replaced along with one rear arm bearing. Stereo fitted along with front speakers, wiring to connect up the 6x9 rears, now sounds great, missing front speaker grille found, rear view mirror replaced. Heater now blows cold air, which has come in handy for those warmer days. Front spheres replaced, i had one genuine citroen 16v one already which i got in a joblot, glad i never sold it. Brand spanking new pressure regulator has been fitted, again another e-bay bargain from a few years ago, the replacment accy sphere was fitted, & now i have a much better ticktime. The fan spade terminal kept coming adrift, so a tie-wrap has hopefully stopped it from popping off due to vibration. Engine oil leak fixed, the octopus has been checked & re-piped correctly now, so no more lhm pissing out, not sure who'd meddled with it previously? Some wiring in the engine bay has been tidied up, some missing bolts etc have now been found to various parts of the engine bay which were previously missing. Replaced the rear tailgate & got the 16v rear spoiler retrofitted back on. Erm, probably forgotten something from the aboe list, & still a few jobs that need doing, but getting there slowly.
