Hi Gary

Don't think me rude but if you look round eBay they are stacks of them, and about half that price.

The rear lamps etc are good value but discs normally fetch about £20 tops.
Lots of Motors, mostly semi broken....

LMC were selling OE Citroen/Bendix vented discs for BX at 30 quid the pair last year. Unfortunately I wanted non ventilated ie solid ones.....GSF have the solids (Bendix) at reasonable prices.

You are not rude to point out a possible over pricing of the discs. I did a quick scan of ebay using the part numbers before putting the adverts on line and found that these particular sized discs were £60+ and none were Bendix hence my asking price.

You pays your money and takes your choice - Run of the mill Mintex are not what they once were and lord knows who owns Brembo these days but I suspect Gary will back me up fro experience, the OE Bendix discs are very good quality and will probably take a lot more hard driving than the cheaper ones.

Maybe, but there are BX new discs out there at £6 quid each. Stangely enough I don't feel able to trust them completely especially towing down the Alps.......

Worth pointing out that these aren't BX discs, they're 283mm, so Xantia Activa, V6, Xsara VTS (I think, though they might be 288mm....not sure).

Either way, the 283's are usually a few quid more each than the BX ones (266mm, vented or solid).

I wouldn't say £40ono is overpriced, personally. When you buy the Bendix ones, you're basically buying genuine ones, and that usually means they come with better rust protection, plus all the little retaining screws etc.

Yup!

I had not bothered looking them up but they are not BX, firs some xsaras,C5,C3 and Berlingos, generally the biiger ones LOL!

They say "assumption is the mother of all f;ups" and I assumed the discs were for a valver and Gary did not state which car they were for.

Fair price!

Correct Luke. As seen in the ad I gave as much info as poss but perhaps should have stated not BX. We looked at running these bigger discs on Bertie but they do push up the weight a fair bit. Same sort of thing with the rad - it is diesel rad iirc - looked at using on Bertie but there is no room to get it in. Would have been nice to have a rad with filler etc all in one and cut down on the hoses.

Anyway thanks for all the input from everyone. Now who wants to buy a pair of discs?

But did it help with the braking?

I've got a set of 283 Xantia callipers knocking about, but never fitted them as the speedlines wont fit over them. I've subsequently bought alloys that will clear them, but i'm not convinced there are any real gains.
