Aftermarket temperature gauge

Hi all, I've been enjoying my first week of BX ownership since getting the car taxed on the first of the month. I'm really enjoying the car, kind of wishing I'd bought one years ago

I'd like to fit a coolant temperature gauge, especially as my orange "overheating" light is glowing at low temperatures, looks like the sender if faulty. I read the post on here about fiting the 205 GTi gauge but I've also seen the one below on Amazon that I quite fancy for mounting on the dash top.

Does anyone know what the thread size for the BX temp sender is? I doubt I'd be luck enough for it to be the same as this one, which is shown as 10mm. My other option is to fit an alloy adapter in the top hose, again, any idea what the internal diameter of the top hose is?

I have fitted a digital temp gauge on my t/d in the bottom right of the dash clocks, just a simple 50mm round unit brought off ebay, stripped out the internals and mounted it in the dash clocks, pretty simple to do involving butchering part of the back casing i used a sender from a Fiat which fitted the m12 thread on the stat housing, only 3 wires pos/neg/sender which can all be taken from the o/e dash clock wiring, seems pretty accurate with normal running at 70 degrees ish and the cooling fan cutting in at 88 degrees, it will save your engine from cooking itself. Alternatively you can use a 205 gauge which should fit straight in as the mountings are all there.

Thanks for that rutter123, if I do go with the Amazon unit, I should be able to get an m12 to m10 reducer bush for the sender. Being rectangular, I think this gauge might be small enough to mount on the steering column shroud with double sided tape and not obscure anything important.
I'm not a fan of the "lights of doom" my Imp had the same idea and one of the first things it got was a proper temperature gauge!!
That's reassuring that your TZD in your signature has done 270k, mine should be barely run in at 129k

Its actually done 285k now and going thru major surgery hopefully will do another 285k once completed
You could simply buy a 50mm round temp gauge and fix it atop the dash with a bracket of sorts as i did with my old bx14 many years ago.
