Heated seats

Post by FredMrBX »

Hello everybody,

I found front heated seats from a Swedish bx with the original loom.

Does anybody know where I can connect them on my bx please? on the 12V accessories connector on the back of the central console? or the rear electrical windows switch?

I've made a schema of the loom I have:

The brown connectors on the right are to connect on the seats.

Thanks
fred

I'd have thought there would be quite a current draw on them so you wouldn't want any piddly little wires. The 12v feed to the accessories socket is quite thick wire (for a BX anyway!) and seems like a reasonable option. Personally I'd be tempted to run a fresh, fused 12v feed either direct from the battery or fuse box.

I would assume the right connector between the brown seat connectors should be the - Negative?

I believe the convention on the BX is to switch things to earth such as the rad fans, interior lights etc so more likely that it would be + and the other side of the switches taken to the negative. :?

Don't suppose it would actually matter which way round would it?

It would if there was some kind of semi-conductor control built into the pad to guard against overheat as that would then 'pop' on a reversed connection. I don't know the type of pad - do you know this to be purely resistive without control that you risk BBQing your bum if left on for a journey on a cold day?
