Plastic welding is possible but it's probably easier to get another bumper!

Well Tim funny you should mention grille & wings hrmm yes! I am currently watching a replacement bonnet on evilbay Now if a BX is a MK2 does it sport a short or long bonnet? Also Others things I need are headilghts & indicators & the grille that fits along the front wiper. if I get all the bits then I think I'll get a proper respray job done.

I have front wings, the panel below the screen and a grille and bumper.

As for the bonnet, you can fit either short or long, but the grille required has slats on a short nosed and none on a long nosed.

What BX is it?

As I have both long and short bonnet Athenas', I have both variations!, and both Mk2s'. The grille/vent is also slightly different. That is the (black) plastic trim behind the bonnet but just in front of the slam panel, but behind the cross rails. Whether it actually makes any cooling difference, I don't know, long as the fan switch works OK, I'd be tempted to ignore any difference...

Thinking a bit more, both my 1.4 (short nose) and 1.6 (long nose) had the same grille/vent so it won't matter. The actual cross rail slats are separate.

Tim

The BX is diesel automatic 1992.
Which part of the country are you in, I'm near Milton Keynes & it was one of dreaded fast roundabouts that this BX came to grief.

Just a thought are diesel & petrol auto gearboxes interchangeable?

AFAIK the gearboxes are all ZF 4 speed but the final ratio will be different for a 1.6 petrol compared to 1.9 petrol. Which set of ratios the 1.9 diesel uses is likely to match one of the two as it delivers the torque low enough, probably share the 1.9 petrol box? Output in hp is 1.6 around 90, 1.9 petrol around 105, 1.9 diesel 72. However the torque curves will be very different, the 1.6 is max somewhere over 3,500 from the feel on the road but a diesel is usually a bit lower say 2,900- 3,000 where a 1.9 n/a (manual) just chugs forever at 80 mph....
I'm not that familiar with my auto box - yet and certainly have not gone through the carb kick back stuff in any detail. However on my one and only drive (35 miles) it felt similar top ratio to the manual 1.6.
Someone on here will know these boxes better I'm sure. Rutter may even have an auto box (off a diesel) as he swapped one over to manual some time back.

Aaah the multitude of all the same lookalike roundabouts in MK whilst looking for road names...... must have been the thirteenth!
