16v tail swap

The damaged p2 16v I recently got has a p1 hatch on it. I have the damaged p2 hatch and the wing is damage free

How easy is it to swap over with the pram on currently on, if I start is there a load of bondo unde etc.

Everything else on a 16valve is held on by an excessive amount of rubberlike glue.

I would expect it to be very difficult to separate from the tailgate.

How bad is the damage on the tailgate itself?

Perhaps its easier to repair the fiberglass rather than swapping the spoiler.

Very difficult to remove. Would actually be easier to try and nibble away at the tailgate from behind and remove the tailgate from the back of the spoiler! But yeah, spoiler is the hardest part I've ever tried to remove from a 16v, and I gave up eventually.

I am surprised by this as I have swapped over two pram handles on 8Vs in the past without difficulty once I had found where the mounting screws were located.

Correction : no I am not surprised these are BXs............

Oh, I thought he was asking how easy to remove the ph2 spoiler from the old tailgate?

Great !

The P2 hatch has had the hinges snapped off, and the plastic around missing. So not really salvageable

Any white P2 hatches around?? May give it a go this weekend

Hair dryer, flat blade screwdrivers, a couple of people to hold the tailgate whilst its off the car & then at least one person holding the hair dryer & another person hitting the bloody spoiler with your hand, i reckon mine took about 6 people in total & around an hour to get the bastard off. Don't forget the bolts holding it on need to be removed first, otherwise you will be doing it all day with no result ;)
