I know have a dragster!

Rear end rose after the old wriggle of the steering wheel wake up the FDV trick. Then it wouldnt go back down. Lot of cursing and swearing as could not get it on the ramps with the nose to ground position. But was able to manually wriggle and release the rear corrector.

Still can not get the front up! So resigned to replacing the HC which just happens got two spare one is near new one I never fitted and forgot about.

Once when mine would not rise, I left it at idle and lifted and jiggled and lifted the front at the wings both sides and this let the front corrector work. After a subsequent pressure release screw fiddle it then worked normally. Might be worth a try before changing the h/c?

Good to know you are progressing.

How does one lubricate that?

Yes Tinkley have been doing that even tried a couple of bumps down the drive. Nothing freed up so the torturous task of get hands in a slow spanner sweeps to remove the piping is under way. I am just concerned that I could now upset the dread octopus pipe in the process.

Meanwhile a it looks like the seal around the sump has decided to leak near the clutch housing. Questions going to be can I get those parts so another phone call is on its way on Tuesday. Might even create another thread those topics.

There's some stuff on lubing the front struts here on the Forum, try the search facility. Have you tried taking a front wheel off and moving the hub up and down? Obviously with it securely jacked but it should move around with effectively no weight, to the height lever. With the o/s you can just about get to the height corrector to ensure it is working/actuating. Possible the clamp has slipped on the rod, or even the clamp (height setting) on the anti roll bar. I suppose the spheres are OK? though when I've had no suspension it still rose, was simply rock hard at normal level...

cheers for that yea tried pretty much everything to get the thing to rise at the front. Its not going to happen.

I started the process of removing the HC. Awkward little sod to undo those high pressure pipes only a certain amount I can do before hands cramp up undoing that thread and my patience goes...lol

This cars proving a bigger challenge than I thought.

Total movement on the front HC from top to bottom is very little, normally on a diesel they are greasy and oily and pretty much self lubricating, just by virtue of where they live, I just wondered if yours are the same down there, better climate and all that.

Changing them is one of the nastiest jobs on a BX, I'd rather do 2 octopus things than change one of them,

Oh thanks mate! I am guessing that near enough 4 years parked up in the down position has caused the seizure on the Front height corrector and yes

But thanks for that I am discovering how blardy difficult changing this thing is. Last time I changed one was probably nearly 20 years ago when I was a bit younger more patient and had no idea what I was doing. The last part is obviously clear I still dont.

Just hope its worth it.

Yes finally got the blasted thing out!

Just for infor there was a lot of pressure in the pipe when I pulled it off. What sparayed out was very watery and not LHM. So suspect the water in the system stayed trapped there. Now the challenge to get it back in.

Decided that under doing the track arm from the hub and removing the drive shaft going to give better access. Might even do a octopus replace at the same time. Next question can I still get an octopus.

Can be misleading as leaks from the crankshaft seal and those hockey stick seals on the main bearing cap find their way to the LHE of the sump too as well as any leaks from the gearbox( driveshaft, selector shafts).

Nope this is definately a leak from the sump gasket. I cleaned the area and you can see where its beading from.

VICTORY!!!!

Replaced the front Height Corrector probably created a leak in the Octopus in the process, but I dont care the car now rises! Now on to the next projects eg warning lights that wont go out .

BLARDY VEHICLE

How to describe! Week ago took her on a longer than planned trip! She did alright except the suspension light flickered on a couple of times. When I got her home checked the fluid she seemed fine. Then the issue started.

Reluctant to rise at the back and now its gone from reluctant to plain blardy stubborn to rise at the front as well.

Brake pressure seems fine (they work) power steering has a bit resistance to it but did note that until today it was prompting the front to rise. The tick time I cant hear! Depressurizing the system from the regulator there is a hiss.

Many have suggested regulator but mechanic I spoke with today said they rarely go wrong! Now given I heard same line about the pump I am reluctant to believe that. The regulator and FDV are one from my TZS I dismantled a couple years back, I figured this would be more reliable with a history unlike the one that was in the car.

Got me stumped! Yes I did hear a squealing noise from the pump so checked the belt seems fine. Chances of second pump failure in under 1000 miles is?

Normally the first sign that the pump is failing is the steering gets lumpy as the pump can't supply enough fluid. Pressure regs almost never fail. I've just had to change one because it was leaking.
