Unsurprisingly, I've a gear change akin to stirring a bucket of Spam cans.
I've tried to find a supplier of uprated replacement rods but none list for the BX.
Anyone know of a supplier? Ideally I want quality, not Chinese.
While we're at it, anyone know of a quick shift off-the-shelf, don't really want to have to cut and weld my own.
Cheers
Sloppy gear change.

Re: Sloppy gear change.
The rods aren't normally the issue in my experience. Biggest difference I've ever made was renewing the roll pins in the selector arms.

Which roll pins are you referring to?Kitch wrote:The rods aren't normally the issue in my experience. Biggest difference I've ever made was renewing the roll pins in the selector arms.
The rods (or at least their bushings) definitely need doing, they're so loose I can pop them off with a finger.
I was hoping it was all shared with the 205, but it appears not.

Two of them are shared with the 205, but the shorter one (I think) isn't. Wouldn't be hard to make up a threaded rod the right length though.JayW wrote:Which roll pins are you referring to?Kitch wrote:The rods aren't normally the issue in my experience. The selector arms on the gearbox themselves tend to be held in place with roll pins, and when they wear it can make a huge difference. Likewise that rotating arm mounted on the steering rack tends to wear its bushing out. Made a big difference on the GT.

Re: Sloppy gear change.
Got a good set of linkages/rods and ball pins if you need them, they seem to feel tight enough with no sloppiness.

Re: Sloppy gear change.
I've ordered a set of adjustable rods ill be able to cut down where necessary. Had an FTP today when one of the rods popped off.
I'll try and dig out the drawing for the quick shift mod (think it's on BX 16V forum but grateful if anyone can point in the right direction).
Rutter123, can you sell me the selector swivel off the top of the rack so I've got a spare?
All the roll pins are good on the box, I had to change the clutch fork before I fitted it.
Cheers!

Re: Sloppy gear change.
I had a sloppy gear lever, a lot of slop side to side and eventually found it to he the nylon bearing in main gear level balljoint.
Check http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-BX-1- ... SwFTRTqWLR it was item 13. I don't know if this e*** item has the bearing cap but grab onto it with your hand and feel if there is any movement.
