No PAS at all? my thought would be FDV have you checked the filters in the FDV?

Sorry worded that wrong Brakes and sort of got PAS! I can feel the steering wheel pulse as I turn it. Some resistance there.

Regards the FDV, its one I had overhauled myself in the last car, now you mention filters someone said when they refurb the FDV they take them out! I believe the original FDV had been refurb as that was where the previous owner had been looking for the fault. Worth a try!

Sounds better than the other option going through my mind of the Brake Valve.

I am missing something! Not sure what though!

Brakes work! Power steering works! Suspension no longer works again.

It got me thinking to what the problem is after following pipes through taking not that there was no fluid in the clear breather pipe from the regulator (not sure the connection to the problem in that comment).

Got me thinking as today was a cold day initially! I fired up the petrol BX car that simply hates being outside in the damp air! While sat there I noted it took a while to rise. That got me thinking what am I missing! Regulator, FDV or Flat accumulator sphere. Its got me totally stumped.

If power steering works, the only thing I can think would be the height correctors and/or linkages seized up. :-/

Is the pressure warning light going out? The suspension won't get any pressure until the safety valve opens. If it is then the pump and regulator should be fine, if not, it is the pump or maybe an internal leak in one of the components, which you should be able to isolate by checking the return hoses.

Pressure light is staying on!

Not convinced its the Height Correctors as the initial problem when I got this car was related to the pump despite me replacing the regulator/FDV and yes the security valve with tried and tested components. Besides front HC is a refurb. The failure started gradually affecting the back first.

What effect would a weak pump have as a thought? Shouldn't be that though well hope not another secondhand one been quoted at $500.

The return pipe from the regulator had been leaking just passed the t-piece on the subframe. This probably seems to have started up pretty soon after fixing that leak...coincidence or connection?

Noted the clear pipe clear of fluid. Still hunting this problem driving me nuts.

I dont think it is the pump because it was a replacement pump. Although today gave it a kick over and the steering was heavy. But the brakes work!!! Find it difficult to believe the pump gave up within 1000 miles.

Meanwhile on the primary diesel vehicle that has got a FDV weeping so I may go for a swap over give that a shot. While I am at it and its simple enough to do I am going to check that pump by a swap over. Elimate the easy task first. Will get back to you about he pump the mrs is not going to let me pay huge amounts to get this fixed last pump cost $100 I cant justify spending to much more on a dog.

They say it is a matter of elimination!

Well correct it is!

I took out the Pump from the TXD and tried it on the Estate. Took a little while then up she went. I gave up trying to get the pump on the TXD that I took out some minute difference in fiddling with the mount and the pipe and yet that car had the easier access. So switched back. I suspect a weak pump. Nothing else can be!

Thats it then unless I can source a diesel hydraulic pump this car is doomed. Either that on if any one knows of a conversion to a petrol one?

I certainly wouldn't trust a "refurbished" pump. It's a well documented fact that it's near impossible to strip one down without damaging the outer casing.

There's a well known UK company that tests them, sprays them green and punts them out as "refurbished"... I know, I bought one and it was DOA.

Having just read through your thread, it's very likely it is the pump.
I have zero patience for your tedium.
