Pressure regulator - anything to service/replace?...

Post by Mark.T »

Hi

I'm gradually getting my Series 2 19TRS back together and a have a few questions to post on the way...
Firstly, I've disassembled, cleaned out and replaced all the seals in the brake doseur, FDV and steering pinion but have not touched the pressure regulator. Is there anything that can be checked or replaced in the pressure regulator, or is it a sealed unit? I don't have a pressure tester to check the cut in/out pressures.

Any advice welcome.
Cheers
Mark

The pressuree regulator can be rebuilt with new seals and stuff, Pleiades in Sawtry Cambs 01487831239 offer this service, speak to Martin there isn't much he dosen't know about the hydraulic side of things, last time i enquired it was about £100 ish to rebuild/exchange your unit.
Or i guess he would sell you a kit of parts if you want to DIY.

Whats your view on the ones that chevronics are advertising?

I have a feeling due to signs of leakage on the regulator it may be prudent to replace the one on the TZD that has had the issues mentioned elsewhere. I dont fancy blowing out another pump.

Thanks - I'll see if Pleiades do parts kits. It's a bit far to send an exchange unit back from Australia

Same boat as you Mark being on the islands to the east of you. Actually finding it tougher to source parts here including replacement spheres.

I get most of my parts now on line from various suppliers, often through ebay, and just accept the shipping cost. I just ordered a gearbox engine mount for less than UK£6:00 incl shipping off eBay.
I recently replaced all the spheres, including the accumulator, on my Series 1 with a set of comfort spheres from:
http://www.sphere-shop.co.uk

Very happy with the result. They ship up to 10 spheres so I also bought a set for my other BX.
I've also had good service from the Citroën parts guy in Adelaide Hills. Recently had a lower radiator hose and crankshaft sprocket from him.

I have rebuilt loads of them very easy to do just remember to keep everything surgically clean and don't nick the seals, makes a huge difference once you have done it the rhythmic ticking vanishes and it ticks about once every 60 seconds or so well worth doing.
