Clutch Cost

Post by kiwi »

Looks like after 60,000 miles my clutch is due to expire so just wondering how much a genuine one from the UK is currently costing?

I dunno, but why do you think it's failing?

On average £50/60 for a semi decent pattern unit or £80/100 for a genuine Valeo kit.

Odd noise that goes away when the clutch is depressed plus clutch is quite heavy (always been that way though). That plus when I got the wheels aligned and inner ball joint replaced the guy who did the work commented on the clutch.
Of course me not driving it that much theses days (the wife uses it mainly) I pick up on these things.

Btw, still not got the Estate Beast sorted yet spotted odd behavior on the rear height corrector today when I moved it so going to have play with that one day. Priority has gone to trying to find the time to take the TXD off the road and fix the leak from the FDV area. Adding the clutch to the woes finances been allocated to that vehicle.

Both LUK and National kits are often Valeo if that bothers you.

Generally, the more fingers on the pressure plate, the lighter the pedal.

Surprised it's hard to get one there?
I have zero patience for your tedium.

A hard clutch is a sure sign and the noise could be the release bearing. However, are you sure the noise isn't the idler shaft within the gearbox?

The idler shaft on t/d has been whining with the clutch depressed for years prob over 100,000 miles now not got any worse. I think valeo clutches have 18 splines i once got a cheapo off ebay with only 12 splines had to change it again after 5000 miles it was s##t, dont buy cheap ones they are just refurbished rubbish. Its not a job you want to do twice in 2 months. Lesson learnt Valeo units only now.
