Idiot question!

I think i know the answer but asking anyway.

Bx no1 has lost a little lhm. Ie enough to cause the pressure lamp to come on. Having used the last of the lhm i had to move bx no2 and hide it from her indoors until i finish her mini; i left it for 3 weeks. Car won't raise now.
Am i correct in thinking that the pump needs priming?
I know where the leak is. Its the rubber hose supplying the pump, its gone porus.

If the supply hose is empty they do struggle to lift the fluid out of the tank sometimes. Leave it connected at the pump end, undo tank end and pour some LHM in using a funnel until it's full, then shove it back on the tank and fire it up. Usually as easy as that.

And on a side note. Is it really neccesery to have a £108 hose to replace the knackered one? Its a diesel, so the long one from tank to gearbox with a 90 degree bend.
I could probably get oil proof silicone ones made up for a quarter of that if no one knows of a cheaper source.

No, save your money and use fuel hose - 10mm I seem to remember its a bit tricky stretching fuel hose over the pump union so silicone might do if you prefer it but not too thin walled to withstand the pump LHM suction. Straight hose will curve round the engine easily and does not need a 90 deg bend.

I have replaced this pipe on my t/d using 10mm and a short length of 12mm fuel line with a 12mm to 10mm reducer elbow just above the hyd pump seems to work fine.
