Right, time and circumstances have decided that I will sell my Xantia TD so its up for grabs due to the arrival of another car. I've been using it for daily A-B commuting and its proved very handy.
The car is a perfect everyday smoking tool. Gets the job done, no fuss.
Its a 1996 N reg, 1.9TD SX. 151k on the clock and has had a replacement engine with a few more miles fitted as the old one was duff. There are reciepts for this.
Good points:
Fully working electric windows/sunroof/mirrors
Remote control locking and alarm also fine
Hydraulic system A1. Brakes, steering and suspension all very good.
FSH....a big one at that!
CD/MP3 player
Good economy (40mpg +) and performance is also very fair
Doesn't use any water or oil
The last owner took extremely good car of this car and spent a fair bit of money keeping it in good check. Mechanically, it shows. Sadly the bodywork is quite tired now, its been like this for some years I would say. The paint is faded (these pics are in the rain about 30mins ago!) and it doesn't look good. But to be fair you don't buy one of these to look good, you buy one to get around in comfort and refinement at a good price. A bit of polish and maybe a mop would certainly improve things alot, but it will never be good.
But mechanically its brilliant! Engine is very smooth and doesn't overheat. Gearbox is perfect, suspension is A1 with sharp brakes and quick to rise suspension. Spheres and HP pump are still nearly new. Basically its near faultless to drive.
Only faults across the car in general are:
The Air Con doesn't work....the compressor won't cut in. Everything is present though.
The heater is controlled by a switch, no variable speeds as the cable broke.
Rev counter doesn't work.
The indicator switch is a bit dicky. Works fine, but sometimes ticks by itself although the lights don't.
Needs a clean!
Thats it really.
Car is taxed until end of Sept 07 and MOT'd until Feb 07. Yo ucan honestly just get in and go.
I'm looking for £350 onvo for it.
Any questions please ask. Thanks.
