You have an 87 3.0 litre Capri thought they stopped the 3.0l in 82 when the 2.8 took over? I would love a MK1 3.0 litre

Unfortunately she: doesn't have a license (though she loves bikes too): doesn't like the XT and in Austria it's illegal to ride when there is snow on the road.

It's an 87 1.6 laser that was professionally converted to a 3.0S some years back, with mild tuning (estimated about 180hp). A good friend gave it to me as a present, last year, when he decided to go back to blighty.

Bah, failed the emissions again with the new Lambda sensor fitted and then the ecu warning light came on, upon reading the codes it came up all induction sensors were faulty, which was the point I decided to leave it at the garage for them to locate the issue as it became a real issue with bringing the car to them and back here again each time I tried something. So anyways it turns out it was the catalytic converter which had burned out, so I was stuffed, A cat for a BX, no chance of me finding one myself (and I have looked far and wide) but the Garage could get one at a whopping 500€ (this left me feeling somewhat sick) but had to be done as I had no options left. Thankfully it did cure the issue and she got her test certificate, with only one advisory.... exhaust system 'mild rust' (amazing considering it's now a brand new system front to rear!!!).

The end result is she now looks (almost) and drives like new. So call me stupid, but I called the previous owner and he bought the car back from me, I offered it to him for what it cost me. How to make an old man happy, he cried when I took the car away and he cried when he got it back, it was the only brand new car he'd ever bought in his life and as I've discovered he only sold it because the Citroen dealer from where he bought the car new in 1991 told him that the rear spheres were not replaceable and it would cost 1000€ to replace the suspension units!!!!! So it was a short and fraught sojourn for me back into BX territory, but the end result feels fantastic and now despite him being 2 hours away from me, I am now his first contact for any repairs he may need in the future.

Going off today to look at a E280 4-Matic (I know, traitor) I need a 4 wheel drive and the Range Rover is going up for sale once the engine is rebuilt at which point I intend to get another CX.

I'm not leaving here though, still love the BX (not as much as the CX admittedly) and will keep supporting this wonderful community.

Good job no one told me that when I tried to get over the Grossgluckner a couple of years back... Got as far as the tollbooths but the pass was closed so I had to take the train under the mountain into Slovenia instead. This was before it got properly snowy!

Ha typical, were only about 45 mins away from the Grossglockner and 10 mins from the Italian Border. You could have stayed here at our B&B

I'll remember that for next time! Can you send me details or a link?

And another question - are back in the UK much? At some point I need to send a vintage track bicycle to a friend near Matighofen and I don't want to post it!

Don't blame you! I try and avoid it but I have to keep going back briefly for work (or more often to get a cheap flight somewhere for work).
