Galvanising rear sub frame?

Post by womble3go »

I have the chance to get the rear sub frame Galvanized with a some work parts, has any one done this before are there any down points to this the only one that I can see so far is that the lugs that hold the plastic pipe holds with need some work to clean up, some holes will need opening up.

Looking forward to some thoughts on this.

Kevin.

Well why not do it I suppose
Never heard of RSF corrosion so not sure of any benefit
It is the front one that can rust away, so that makes more sense imo.

I've looked into getting a front one done, but the company weren't keen on it as subframes invariably tend to be full of grease and crap, and it would have contaminated their tank.

I suppose it'd keep the rear one looking nicer externally, but structurally I don't think it's really needed. A decent coating of paint would suffice, but as John says, the front would be much more sensible, as they do actually rust out.
