Hi Bobby

All BX seats inc estate and hatch are interchangeable, you wont find a set of Mk1 seats that aren't very tired by by now

When I restored a Mk1 a few years back I fitted a set of Mk2 "tweed grey" which matched up well.

Cheers

Yes they are, they are interchangeable, what state are you door cards in? mine thankfully just needed a good clean.

?I was caught out by Mk. 2 door cards being designed to have the integral speakers and the Mk. 1 not. Therefore I couldn't swap the Mk. 2 card to the Mk.1 car because they were smaller!

Tweed seats went in to my Mk. 1 and we're lovely and comfortable. ?

Well, you could swap to series 2 door cards. They fit beautifully to the series 1 dashboard. But the real problem in this case would be the fact, that you would also need to exchange your series 1 mirrors to series 2 ones. The reason why is obvious: the lever (?) of the series 2 mirrors is longer and angeled horizontally, the series 1 is shorter and not angeled.
Series 1 dashboard with series 2 door cards would look like this:

Ah, you are of course right about swapping the whole door card, including the speaker pods, that would work.

My problem was that I was just swapping the upholstered piece in and that didn't work. The plastic colour was wrong for my car and also I only got the upholstered piece, not the whole card plus speaker pods.

BTW, loving the Mk. 1 dash transplanted to your car. Well done.

Thank you! Quite a lot of complicated work. I love it, too. To me it is a must have in a BX. But good series 1s are extreamly rare and so I came up with this.

Probably you got the upholstered piece from a later series 2 BX model. The early ones still had this light grey Interior like the series 1 BX. Even the door cards are the same in exception with this upholstered piece of plastic for the speakers. This was new because of series 2. The series 2 I referred to are models from mid 1986 to the end of 1988 as far as I know.

In my car the grey coulor of the dashboard doens't really fit so that i'll paint some of them in a darker grey.

Interesting: swapping Mk1 mirrors to Mk2 would not be a bad think in my opinion because the Mk1s are very lacking in rear view in comparison.

Kicking myself even more now for selling the mint Mk2 tweed interior I had 3 years ago. Doh!
