1991 BX 1.9 TGD Meteor for sale

Post by ArchaeoBX »

For sale for restoration is my Citroen BX 19 TGD Meteor. It’s been dry stored for more than ten years but I now need the garage space so it has to go.
Good bits:
The car has very good bodywork with only some slight rust appearing on the front offside wing since it’s been in storage. There’s no rust on the front door pillars or rear door closers.
Paintwork is original and there are a few light scratches and scuffs, as may be expected with a car of this age. Paintwork is peeling on the rear spoiler.
There have been no previous repairs to the underbody.
The interior is in excellent condition.
Electric sunroof
Electric front windows
I have all paperwork for the car including all original owners’ handbooks/service records, past MOTs and bills. I am the car's third owner.
Bad bits:
The car is a non-runner – it was originally laid up due to head gasket failure.
Its original diesel engine has covered some 186,000 miles.
As the engine doesn’t run the suspension hasn’t been tested. Although the condition of the hydraulic system is unknown the principal pipe system (the ‘octopus’ pipe) was renewed only two months before the car was laid up.
All the tyres are holding air. The front tyres will need replacement for MOT.
As the car is a non-runner (and the suspension down) the purchaser will need a suitable car transporter or low trailer to collect it.
Any inspection is welcome – please message me
Open to sensible offers.

I have a t/d engine that would slot straight into that, if the body is solid you shouldn't have a problem selling it.

I'm looking at this car tonight with a view to taking it on as a resto. I suspect an engine is an absolute must following ten years laid up with HGF.

Really bad timing for spending cash on a car but hopefully no one plays silly buggers on eBay.

I do have a 16 petrol I'm slowly getting sorted.

Went to have a look last tonight.

The engine is almost certainly seized.

Needs welding to n/s front inner wing, boot floor, n/s rear inner wing and potentially n/s/f door upper hinge. There's the start of rust breakout on o/s/f door shut seam and both roof/windscreen joints.

Discs/pads all round are shot (as you'd expect) front pads have been removed to free them up and the fuel pipes feel really crusty. Additionally, the fuel cap bayonet is toast. The suspension is an entirely unknown quantity!

But, as I'm local, transport costs are minimal and I have space for it I'll be after salvaging it BUT my budget is non-existent this time of year so I'd appreciate anyone who might have thought of bidding "for the sake of it" to abstain.

The seller has been messed about several times over the past 12 months by phantom "buyers" as far afield as Scotland and will likely as not scrap it if messed around again.

Wish me luck 😂

I'll bear that in mind if I win the auction. Fortunately the only other existing bid appears to now have been retracted!

Indeed I did sir, no other bidders.

Will be recovering it Monday and having a good look underneath to draw up a plan of attack!
