Hi, are you still looking? I have a TZD which has lived in my shed for a couple of years. I think I put it away with a view to changing the FDV, but I can't really remember. I don't think there's much wrong with it, other than the sunroof leaks, and probably just needs the drain pipes blowing out, the inner wing has holes, but an easy enough weld (the other side was done years ago). Last time I started it, the charge lights stayed on, so probably sticky brushes on the alternator, and the tacho was a bit jumpy from memory. It has a new radiator (rare as rocking horse's on a TZD), and a newish offside front strut. Let me know if youre interested, and I'll fire it up and send you some pics. I'm on the Kent Sussex border by the way.

I'm still debating selling my 17rd. 1988, 1.7 non turbo. Pretty basic, no power steering. Underneath is solid but will need welding on inner wings. Short mot, expires this month, would like around 500. In Coventry, still unsure about selling him as he's a reliable little car, but very unrefined.

1.7 non-turbo? I might be wrong but thought we only had turbo'd 1.7 in the UK. Is it an import?

No its the base model, low spec and no power steering. Its a fun car to drive but slow! Google Bleriot the bx and there's a fair bit on it out there. I've owned him 18 months i think and done a fair bit of welding on him but inner wings will need doing. Went through last mot as I hid it under sound deadening. I might bang him for another mot and see what if anything he needs doing.

I think the 17n/a was only utilised until 1989 then the 1.9 superceded it again non turbo but with a fair bit more torque, you wouldn't win any races with either but fuel economy is favourable, the turbo diesel is a 1.7 (some say 1.8) but very different on performance 90 bhp as opposed to 55/62 and in my case much favoured, and all pretty bulletproof if maintained.

You could actually buy a 17TGD right up until 1992! They kept it on for the fleet market.

No power steering makes it a bit of a workout but of course it can be retrofitted.

I have been a bit of a BX nerd since 1987 and having owned 40+ of them ive had pretty much every model.

The 1905cc diesel with 65bhp and a "square inlet port" came out in 1984, a year after the BX launch in the UK, followed in 1985 by a 60bhp 1769cc (mk1), non had power steering as standard initially (unless it was a super rare 19RD estate) but a top spec 19DTR was launched in late 1985, but these are very rare now as were only available for a few months before...you could even get a 1.9 65bhp auto which is rather pedestrian.

July 1986 saw the Mk2 model launch but the engine line up stayed as it was with an addition of a lower powered 1.6 petrol 80bhp petrol, known as a 16RE over here and 15RE in france, this was for tax purposes I believe....in 1987 the 1905cc non turbo diesel gained an oval port head/inlet manifold and revised air intake giving a whopping 10% power increase (to 71bhp), in 1988 the 1769cc diesel was available with a turbo and intercooler giving a 50% power increase!! but the 60bhp naturally aspirated ran until 1992, when Citroen dropped most models in readiness for the Xantia.
