oil back

Post by barry badger »

Just after my txd dropping its lhm all over the road my 4x4 decided to join in too. The front oil back harness has split. I'm having trouble getting onto service box but i've had a look on ebay and there is one on there that looks right but is listed for a diesel, the part number is 95603420, will this do a petrol 4x4 carb?
thanks in advance ( hopefully ).

There are 2 octopus the one you mention is the upper, the lower more common failure is pt no 96030258 which accommodates the strut returns etc
Whether it fits the 4x4 I don't know.

I'd be wary using New Old Stock return rubbers now, think about it, they are at least twenty years old rubber, I'd be more inclined to make an octopus out of silicon hose and many many t-peices.

I know what you mean about old stock pipes. I had an 19rd I bought in 1995, I ran it for 200,000 miles over 12 years before the body disintegrated and I never touched the rear octopus once. I bought a tzd in 2007 and had to replace the octopus when I bought it, after 3 years I was having to trim off the ends of it because it kept splitting.

Hello. I substituted my 4x4's octopus with a standard one, I don't know what model it was from, but all I needed to do was lengthen the returns from left side strut and maybe something else. Rutter, there's no "lower" octopus on a 4x4, they are both up (: . The other return pipe is standard what comes to differences between 4x4 or fwd, they don't exist. It's about year model how the returns from PAS and pressure regulator are connected.
