Well, that was a very productive weekend.
After a nail-biting start getting the old rear spheres off... (Picture Phil Boxall with 2lb lump hammer and huge chisel and lots of cussing), we ticked a lot off the To Do list.

The car will need just a couple more bits attending to and it'll be fully match fit for October.

Well it's a case of three steps forward and one step back... the (admittedly cheap) 'new' rear cylinders both failed (!) within 250 miles but at least they'll be easy to whip off and replace with new - and guaranteed - TZD spheres (on order). Just received more bits to fit: hand brake cables, front flexis, EBC discs and pads; so we'll be doing more work next week....

Also got a CCC official valuation on the car. Which - without being precise as valuations are not usually spread around - was more than twice what I paid for the car: Therefore there's some latitude in justifying the expenses incurred in the work. But it's not been cheap to get this far!

Surely top a degree it's what it's worth to you and if you enjoy it why not? All cars are money pits...

Hi Phil

Ive just spoken to FJ about this and upped the value of mine, I don't know if you saw in last months Practical Classics but the value of BX GT's have risen by 50% so with that in mind I have valued it accordingly, also the TZI has been adjusted.

I doubt very much there are 40 GT's left in the UK, maybe 10?

This is all good news. I could almost say there most certainly aren't 40 GT's left in the UK. Perhaps in the world? Howmanyleft thinks there are 16 left, and a list i've compiled (so very anorak like i know...) of the GT's in circulation contains 12 of them. I'm sure there are others tucked away, so hopefully there are more than 16 left!

I know of a white one (only white one I've seen on UK roads) which is hidden away in a garage, its done loads of miles.

There yours Tom, Kitch's, the dark red one, mine, and that silver one advertised for sale recently.

As you say maybe some tucked away in a garage.

Most of the launch/press cars were red but I cant say ive ever seen one.

I've never seen a white one, do you remember if it was an 85 or 86 Tim? Black and red look the best IMO.

Andy Jones had a Black GT that sadly he lost interest in and it's disappeared. I can check with him to find out though.

Following others I have just put another 1100 on the agreed value of my GTi. All they wanted was 6 photos and agreed immediately with no extra cost.

But as with everyone else the value is still way less than I have spent on it to keep it looking presentable and on the road.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

I’m in the process of sorting out this years cover for the Valver. Never used FJ before, but what would you guys reckon is a realistic value on my 16 Valve? I see the black PH2 that’s been advertised on eBay has had it’s price reduced by a grand.

I agree Tim, I noticed one for sale in the recent past quoted it was agreed at £8000 and in view of the appreciation that appears to be happening with a lot 80's and 90's classics, cars and bikes, I think something circa that can be considered.
It could go either way of course depending on the vehicles attributes.
Prefer it to the Lamborghini, like Signor Gandini!
