Bad luck Ian, if it happens that is, many of us have been through redundancies and although traumatic at the time it rarely ends up badly in the long term.
Hope its not Brexit related.

There's lots of talks about selling up/relocating, all of which are rumours and the arrogant management keep silent, I do sometimes wonder if one day I will come to work to find the doors bolted and the cars gone without notice!

I know what you mean. Management met the unions at 09:00 yesterday, and by 09:30 they were informing use 50% of the department is being made redundant. They’ve informed us it is to be all done and dusted by November. Anyway the exhaust arrived this morning at 06:50, I must be the first house on his run, so going to spend a pleasant evening -bashing managements head in. Sorry I mean fighting with stubborn exhaust clamps.

You don't want to use an exhaust for bashing heads in anyway, much too unweildy and very difficult to clean afterwards ;)

Hoping the redundancy turns out to be an opportunity for you, rather than a problem.

New exhaust centre box fitted, fluids checked and fuel topped up. Then a nice run to Dunoon for a long weekend. Rain on the way up, then sun for the rest of the week. Came home yesterday after 750 miles. I love this little car. Next job are the rear suspension bearings, and the oil pressure light comes on, at idle, after a run. Too wet to photograph the car on the ferry on the way there, and then the battery went flat on the camera, so kept forgetting it and leaving it in the room. Doh! Did manage to photograph a submarine though.

Not been on the site for a while. So time for a small update. After an uneventful 2019 where the BX mainly sat doing nothing, other than local runs. It was fired up today. Over the last summer it had a new stainless exhaust fitted, wheel bearings and swing arm bearings. Need to book in for the engine work, and it still need welding and the seat repairing. Lots of other things required for MOT. That and preparing the Acadiane for use again. We then have the logistical nightmare of moving four cars and a caravan to Scotland. No rush as we will be moving over the year. I need to persuade Jean to drive the BX and two the caravan with it. And to take the Acadiane on a trailer behind the Skoda. Then it would just be a matter of collecting Jean's C1.

I have not posted on here for a while, because to be honest I have not done much, due to life, and COVID getting in the way. Neither the BX or Acadian have been out. The BX is up for sale, or will be roffled in the next couple of weeks. I still love the car but it has been replaced by a car I have wanted for a while now.
1.9NA diesel estate.
So far it has had a tow bar fitted. Wax oiled, and that has been it. Mechanically the Rev counter does not work, and there were no choonz. Easily solved, there were no speakers, despite there being a head unit. Body wise it needs rear bumper strips, and there is a bit of rust and a small dent in the roof and a bit of work to do on the wheel arch. It is currently being loaded up, for a run to Dunoon on Thursday, where we we have bought a house to renovate. If you see us we will have bikes on the roof and Flat pack furniture from a yellow and blue shop. Pictures to follow over the weekend.

No wonder - you've a lot going on, apart from dodging Covid.

1.9NA is a delightful thing, with usable torque (although less than the turbo) down to quite low revs. They love to be driven, so give it lots of hard work, particularly if its just been pottering about.

Had to replace the tacho' sensor on ours. The correct one for the diesel is an FAE 79156 (or equivalent), which can be had from Mister Auto (or not, at the moment in the UK, amid Br*x*t chaos). Write-up here: viewtopic.php?p=268916#p268916. Most of these have a little plastic sacrificial pip on the tip, which you push into contact with the flywheel. The pip quickly wears off, leaving the correct 1mm sensing gap.

Thursday night, after work, we took the estate on a shake down run. Loaded it up with stuff from the yellow and blue shop of Swedish delights, and pointed the car north for a 311 mile road trip.
First impressions. Sits comfortably at between 70 and 80mph. It does run out of steam a bit on long hills compared to my modern turbo diesel. Again it is not quite as comfortable as the Skoda, and does not have the luxuries of the Skoda. It was however very capable and surprised a few modern cars. Even the wife prefers it to the Meteor, so that a win. Comparing a 28 year old car with a modern is a little unfair, but there’s not much in it for comfort, economy, load carrying and practically. Next test is with the caravan.
