BX Club meets

Post by Philip Chidlow »

Is there ever going to be a BX Club gathering that isn't part of another event?

Doesn't have to be big, or grand, but to be pure BX would be nice. One day???!

Great idea. I am Citroen-less these days so won't be joining.

Over on the Volvo 480 Forum we found that such a small number of cars meeting in just one place could be a bit dull and also a surprising amount of members weren't up for travelling too far. The solution was to have what we call a "Mobile Mini Meet" which has been working well for a few years.

The solution is to meet at different places for breakfast, lunch, dinner and then stay overnight where this dinner was. This way, the cars get driven, the excitement of seeing a BX convoy is satisfied, and those members not able to travel so far can just come for one or two of the stops. So it got the numbers up to a level to be worthwhile.

We went over 10 years without a meet and now meet a few times years. The meets are genuinely the highlight of my year!

It would be ideal, somewhere central, at something like a museum, maybe when we have some sunshine?

What's at Uttoxeter on that day? Maybe start in Uttoxeter and rendezvous at Gaydon that or another day?

Well lock down is starting to ease, and it looks like most CCC events this year have been cancelled so maybe we could organise a gathering of our own, as long as it is safe to do so, September maybe, somewhere Central perhaps?

Suggestions chaps?

Good idea Tim. I suggested somewhere earlier in the year. See above /\

Good idea Tim I presume you mean that you tax it for 6/12 months, use it a bit then sorn it again to get a 5/11 month refund.

No i pay monthly via direct debit, works out about £23

I don't know how many bx'ers are in the East mids but I would quite happy to have a small event at my place poss Sept, I've got enough land to offer overnite camping for those who want to rough it.
