BX Wanted

Post by buxtonmarauder »

I'm going to have space in my barn in Sept/Oct so I'm thinking I might be up for a BX to fill that space..

Ideally, I'd like it running and MOT'd as I'm lazy (and not very skilled)..

I'm based in the Peak District but willing to travel to collect/view if it's attractive enough.

Don't really have a budget in mind but I figured sub £6k would get a good one ?

Tell me if I'm being stupid too, I've got a thick skin !

Cheers

Welcome, eBay and car and classic are your best bet. Plus the Facebook page.

Go on body condition more than model, don’t worry about the hydraulics too much ...worry about rotten subframe mounts and inner wings, a car that appears tidy up top can be a real rot box, if the rear wings are bubbling I’d walk away

Buy the best you can find/afford from a caring owner and always check the mot history

Thanks for the tips.. I'm on the FB page, been lurking for a while ;-)

Figured if I put a post up on here that it might tip someone over the edge into selling !

I'm not desperate so I'll bide my time till an interesting one comes up, that's what I did for my CX and it came good in the end !

It's a a bit short on details and I was a bit suspicious as to why all of the photos were taken from a low angle, perhaps hiding something on the bonnet or roof. However, that just seems to be how that dealer photographs their cars. That said there does seem to be a little mis-match on the paint on the panels, but I'm picky!

I'd call it more a steady but leisurely drive, certainly won't win any races but on the flip side you'll get 50+mpg

It looks like a very tidy car to me; It reminds me of my BX when I bought it. If anything, it's tidier than my car was.

Although there are a few things jump out at me as being suspicious.

Firstly that left front wing looks to have been replaced as it's a different colour.
The plastic wheel arch isn't quite in line on the drivers side front although it could be nothing.
And something that really irritates me when I'm looking at pictures of a car; why hasn't under the bonnet been shown?

If it's not rusty underneath, I think it'll make a great car.

They're slower than a manual, but they get the job done, provided the gearbox has been looked after. As the previous owner of my BX said to me: "It'll go 0-60 in about 5 years, but the fuel economy is unbelievable."
