My BX is languishing in its garage at the moment and is in need of an MOT.
While checking underneath yesterday I noticed a small green leak from the LH end of the PR. This will need sorting before MOT by changing the oring sealing the end cap.
Obviously I can change this with the PR off the car but does anyone think this could be done with it still on the car? This would save all the faff of getting it off the car, a job I am not very fond of.

Probably not relevant, but I had to sort a small leak at the PR here yesterday.
LH end (when viewed from the front) and parts underneath had drips.
Found it was the horizontal steel return pipe (from PR to reservoir) leaking where the split-pin hose clip held the rubber pipe, which was not tight on the steel pipe.
The clip could not be tightened, so replaced it with a pincer-type circular one.

@Chris - No my leak is from the other end and will not be such an easy fix.

It's no big deal to take it off, just a few pipes and 2 11mms bolts, it may mean bending a spanner as access is limited removing the rad makes things a lot easier, sadly one of those £1 seals is a day's work, but yes I expect it will need to come off

If you try doing it on the car you're probably going to lose something and it'll turn out harder than just removing it in the first place. Yes, it's a messy, time consuming and awkward job to remove and refit it, but it'll just be as awkward, if not more so, by trying to work on it under the car when everything is in your way.
Whilest it's apart, it would be a great time to thoroughly clean it inside & replace all the seals so you don't have any more problems with it. You might even find that it's not the regulator itself, but a pipe in the vicinity that's leaking onto it.

Rutter and David, yes I am sure you are right. I was just looking for something quick and easy instead of long and messy. But having looked again at how to do it I am now resigned to long and messy. Its only a tiny weep so its not exactly urgent at the moment. I will just clean it off at MOT time.
