Sadly no mention of the bx, an appreciating classic nonetheless but not for the masses.

It's not just cars, bikes are doing the same. Anything that caught the attention in their day has risen massively over recent years, even months. It has created significant number of restorations and full nut and bolt rebuilds for certain models. The problem is, some of this work is done by anyone who thinks they can do it. The parts used are not always the best and who knows if they will run for long. Prices over £10k are being achieved and anything original is greater. The difference is, it's not easy to restore cars the same due to their size so what is about is pretty much it. Again, models that caught the attention at the time will rise, as for the BX, I think certain models are attracting attention, that's becoming evident from articles / clubs in the UK and elsewhere. They are just not currently the first vehicle that come to mind but they get a massive amount of attention when seen.

Yes indeed who'd have thought a good s/h Italian supercar can be picked up for less than a mid 80's Ford Fiesta XR2. In reality the modern classics 80s 90s cars could well be the last of the old school collectibles as modern rubbish is too disposable and will ev's ever get that classic status?

The three classics I have have risen steadily over the last few years, the Commers in particular have gone from being able to pic a decent one up for a few hundred to the same van going for £8/£10K. Either the Mini or the Minor Traveller will be eventually going to finance a BX, I just hope they don't go silly before them.

I can remember as a small kid going on day trips in either a Commer or Dormobile with my uncle, we'd bundle about 10 of us in this van and a few dogs and for a special treat me and my sister were allowed to stand in the front and hang onto the dash as it wafted, rocked and swayed along the A29 to Littlehampton with Dreadlock Holiday on the AM radio.
The van was scrapped early 80's.

We had three minibuses at Padgate in '67-'71 - two Bedfords for the college drivers to use, but the third was a slightly older Commer. This could be driven by students (after a brief licence check and test drive). I remember it being solid, somewhat lumbering, and decidedly heavy on the steering, and that the front track was a lot narrower than the rear. A dependable lump, for all that, and ideally suited to blunting any ideas of spirited driving by the student body.

The Bedford (Dormobile) vans had a viscious streak though. If you forgot to secure the sliding door back (it had a fabric loop, iirc) when driving with it open, if you braked sharply the blasted thing would scythe forward in an attempt to slice off anything in its path.

My uncles had sliding doors so must have been a Dormobile. Looked like an ice cream van.

If that's the case, should you have any spares, those could have shot up too. Many of the NOS bike parts I own have inadvertently become one of the best investments I ever made. Only thing is, I dare not use them now.😂

If the demand is there for your vehicle as you say, you could have a lot more than you think.

The Mini and the Minor are both very well catered so my stash won't be worth a fortune. I've a few Commer bit's and pieces that will have gone up in value but I'll be hanging on to the campers.
These are my two taken a few years ago, the maroon Auto-Sleeper is in need of bodywork and paint just now. Once the Morris is finished 'Harvey' will be getting some love :D
