Praise well deserved. Diesel Car magazine regarded the XUD as a breakthrough in reliability and a new-found smoothness and flexibility. It was to a great extent responsible for the public's acceptance of diesel passenger cars. The BX rode this wave, and played an important part in Citroen's commercial recovery.

I never knew it was available in the Lada Niva. I wouldn't of minded owning one of those.

And in the Rover 418D, the Talbot camper vans up to late 80s had the 1.9na, also a popular conversion in the Suzuki SJ 4wd jeep

Also listed on Diesel Bob's top ten.

And I read somewhere used to power a canal barge.

I believe an XUD9 was also shoehorned into a motorbike.
I'm sure someone will be along with a picture quite soon....

I think it's a great engine, none of my many diesels over the years have given any major probs and my current TD is on 294000 so it's nicely run-in and still on its original lucas pump, headgasket and turbo.

Wasn't there a guy from Finland on here many years back who used one to power a giant log saw.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.
