Speaker set up question -
Ive got my fronts running through a pair of cross overs to the front tweeters in the dash and to the mids in the door cards, Im wondering if it would make much difference if I take the rear speaker feeds and run them through another set of cross overs and install tweeters into the C-pillars (to replace the dead speakers in the rear) and make some speaker boxes for another set component mids to sit on the rear parcel shelf ?
And anyone on here any good with 1980s Blaupunkt wiring ?

Re: The ICE thread
Grave digging again.
Am thinking of adding some C pillar speakers.
Pretty sure back in The day I had mid/tweeters in one of my previous BX’s. Possible using a existing factory Fitting point.
Sadly my meteor dosnt have existing rear speakers or dummy grills to play with.
Has anyone added rear speakers , can you share some pictures.

Re: The ICE thread
I've added rear speakers to my car years ago & I've just recently replaced them for different units.
They're fitted into the C pillars as you've stated. When I added mine, I got all the parts out of an old scrapped GTi at the time, including the C pillar trims, grills, speakers and wires.
The original wires are over complicated and go from the radio to plugs in the centre console first. I don't actually know what these plugs do; they're either for AUX IN or headphones out for the rear, but they're outdated 80's ports either way. Simply put, you can just run 2 basic wires directly to the speakers instead of these.
The original speakers come with shaped frames that screw straight into the C pillars. I've replaced the speakers themselves and put new speakers in their place. Have a look at my post & picture on page 3 of this thread: viewtopic.php?t=22826&start=30 Hopefully it'll give you an idea of what you'll need.
The C pillar trims themselves are the same, but if you're going to use them, then you'll need to cut a circular hole in them & ideally add a couple of grills over them to make them look original. There are currently some new old stock units on ebay, although they're a little expensive.
Failing that, you could always go to a local scrap yard and see if there's anything in any other cars that might be suitable, although most things in newer cars don't seem generic enough to be compatible with anything else.
Hope that helps.
