Hi all,
I have a citroen bx tzd turbo that skipped timing and broke camshaft in 3 pieces and camshaft bearings couldnt find a replacament head so i left it sit like that for 5 years.
Now i found one and was thinking of rebuilding the engine, is it necessary to bore out the block or can i just rehone it and put new rings in it? Engine didnt consume oil or anything prior to this, what headgasket do you recomend and bearings and rings.
Also where can i find part numbers for hydraulics rebuild (o rings) and suspension bushings?
And one more thing is peugeot 306 hdi 5 speed fit to bx without modding anything, using same driveshafts and everything as far as i know its the same trans but with longer final drive?

Re: Xud7te rebuild
Hi, and welcome!
The bore and pistons/rings/etc should have survived a camshaft breakage. That engine is extremely tough.
Unless there is obvious damage to the bore, I wouldn't bother to work on it. We ran a 19D here to 177,000mi before a HG went, and the bore showed no signs of wear at all.
Folk here will be able to make recommendations for makes of HG, brearings, shaft etc., and on the gearbox swap.
If you need up-to-date Citroen part numbers, just ask. We have access to Cit.Parts (Servicebox) here.

As /\ says the blocks are generally bulletproof, you can use a cam from a 1.9d gives better low down torque
Not sure on using a 306 box, I thought the bx TD had the tallest 5th gear.
I have some TD headgasket BNIB if u need one they are 1.6mm

Re: Xud7te rebuild
I have a spare 1.9d camshaft, but would like to put original in.
I know these engines are tough but mine has 380 000km so would honing and new rings hurt anything?
306 box and bx turbo box have same gear ratios but 306 box has taller final drive.
What thickness headgasket should i use? What brand i would like all those informations.
My BX TZD Turbo VIN is VF7XBEK0011EK2994, can someone send me part numbers for all engine gaskets and seals, all hydraulic seals, engine bearings and rings and suspension bushings?

The thickness is found out after you have measured how much the pistons protrude over the block.Xm25td wrote: Sun Dec 12, 2021 5:19 pm What thickness headgasket should i use? What brand i would like all those informations.
For the TD I would suggest you find the all-metal gasket, so you can turn the two magic screws a bit more (fuelling and boost).

Re: Xud7te rebuild
You are needing a shedload of parts information there, which would take any one of us hours to assemble from Servicebox (the Citroen Parts database).Xm25td wrote: Sun Dec 12, 2021 5:19 pm My BX TZD Turbo VIN is VF7XBEK0011EK2994, can someone send me part numbers for all engine gaskets and seals, all hydraulic seals, engine bearings and rings and suspension bushings?
Can I suggest some options for the info?
- You take out a one-year subscription to Servicebox (for Citroen Parts), which costs £150+vat, and then gives you up-to-date and unlimited access to parts pages and availability for any Citroen vehicle. Sign up as an Independent Repairer.
- You make use of one of the (pirated) web pages of the same info, which might not be up-to-date, but would be 'free'.
- You use one of the better aftermarket parts websites (such as PSA/Stellantis' misterauto.co.uk), and enter exact vehicle details, to look at the choice of parts on offer, which are also cross-linked to OE Part Nos.

Thats nicee , leaning towards replacing only rod bearings, mains and cylinders piston rings should be fine.
