There are two in Fishponds, Bristol parked on a driveway, both taxi's, both driven by asian chaps who I think are brothersPhilip chidlow wrote:Check out the pics on this: http://homepage.mac.com/macksy/PhotoAlbum5.html and scroll down...
I don't think I've seen a Taxi, Asian or otherwise like that!
Now, before any of you jump in (lol!)...

Well I think the final bid was £250! To be honest that would just be taking the p*ss!! Maybe I worded the advert wrong, the reserve wasn't hugely above that (OK, well less than double) so it was a giveaway really, but not taken!
Ho hum. One lives and learns, and since Phil introduced me to this site I realise I am not alone in appreciating the BXperience!
Maybe I'll re insure it and enjoy the ride - awesome!
Best regards
John J.

Definately looks a tidy one. I'm surprised it didn't hit the money.
GTi's don't seem to do too well value-wise. I suppose because if you want practicality you get a TD and if you wanna go fast you buy a valver.
Maybe if you'd mentioned the chip it may of done better? Shame overall though because its a really tidy car, and lovely colour.
Just means you'll have to carry on looking after it

Power to weight ratio
Purely as an exercise.. 'It's just a bit of fun...'
I have used a Citroen brochure for the weights.
NB: Of course most BX petrol engines these days won't be developing anything like the maximum, but I'm using specified outputs as a guide, as I figure it applies to all equally, so any difference is proportional.
GTi 8v non-cat standard: 122 bhp/tonne
(and because it's this thread)...GTi 8v chipped to 139 bhp: 135.6 bhp/tonne
(and because it's possible for those 'track days') GTi 8v chipped to 139 bhp and lightened 30 kg: 138 bhp/tonne
So, fairly respectable - even by warm cars of today's standards (they are all generally a lot heavier, of course)...
But then, you have the 16v:
16v: 149.5 bhp/tonne
(Lightening the car by 30 kg would bring this to nearly 154 bhp/tonne)
(and if you got yourself a tuned one - I understand 170 bhp is possible): 158.8 bhp/tonne
Finally, if you did lighten that car by 30 kg then you hit 163.4 bhp/tonne... a highly respectable figure indeed. It does mean you could push 188 bhp/tonne in a track prepared car, I guess.
As I said, just a bit of fun.

Didn't mention the chip in the ad Kitch because buyers might have thought that it had been owned by a boy racer whereas in fact both Phil & myself are fine upright citizens
And apparently the original owner, who had the chip fitted, was an elderly gentleman.
Unfortunately I really need the space and SOME money so I suppose it is still up for grabs, ho hum.

Phone numbers, phone numbers....too many idiots out there. John J is going to be hacked off if he's getting
calls in the middle of the night asking if he's still got that chipped bx for sale.
Phil or Mods, can you modify that post please?

Yes,
to be honest Phil when you said you'd give my contacts to interested members on here I thought you meant by p.m.
I'm not too happy about having numbers on the www.! There are too many idiots out there.
Perhaps you could delete/edit that one?
No hard feelings Phil, you had the best intentions. But don't forget, many people aren't as reputable as most posters to this site. I'd rather not hear from the others
Thanks
John J.
