Purflux fuel filter head

Post by davidicraik »

Having intermittent starting problems due to air getting into the priming fuel filter head that I believe is a Purflux C180 .
Does anyone know where I can get a replacement?

Had exactly the same on our diesel XM, which uses the same Purflux filter.
All the parts for these filter units are available separately, including a complete head, to use with your existing bowl.
Try a good motor factors, which is where I got ours.

I find the purflex filters a bit troublesome, so I took mine off, threw it in the bin, and fitted a £3 in-line filter on the supply and return line, problem solved never had any issues since.

As said above, the diaphragms on Purlux filter units can be problematic - causing bad running, surges and worse. Have at least one of the units from a scrapper after I replaced one, and a diaphragm kit from Darwen diesels - which I think should work. You'd be welcome to that if I can dig it out.

Bought that when I was going to buy a BX with Purflux filter in lockdown - that had fuel line problems...

I bought the Darwen diesels repair kit because, unlike Chris, I couldn't find the Purflux parts any more in their online catalogue.
