Fuel pump replacement, gasket and spacer

Hey all.
So, recently I found an ad for a BX fuel pump and gasket. Lucky that considering that my fuel pump gasket is leaking. However, I quickly ran into a problem. As it is stock, the fuel pump has a sort of spacer on it. Trouble is, someone before me used superglue on it which made it leak quite a bit. Now, this new set only comes with a thin gasket and not the spacer. The questions are the following;
Firstly, can the fuel pump be used without the spacer? And secondly, if not, is there a way to fix the spacer (considering I am unable to find a replacement for my car (BX 16 TRS)). And even when the spacer is sorted, where does the gasket even go? Does it to under the spacer where it mounts to the engine, or does it go between the fuel pump and spacer?

Why don't you just fit a low pressure electric pump.

The BX has a mechanical pump as standard and it does the job. Also, I haven't seen such a pump being sold anywhere local to me.

Electric fuel pump replaces the original mechanical pump just blank the hole where the original pump was wire in the new electric pump via the ignition using a relay, its easy and more reliable.

I will consider it. However, then I once again run into the same problem of not having parts. I'll just be replacing spacer with fuel pump and blanking plate.

The purpose of the plastic spacer is to provide thermal isolation between the engine block and fuel pump so that the fuel does not boil on a hot day.

You need the spacer to keep the fuel pump plunger size.
I had a damaged spacer and had the same issue with the replacement pump not having a spacer. I fitted it anyway and instantly destroyed the pump. I am now electric. The electric pump is good as you can prime the carb without turning over the engine.
I used the carb cut-off soleniod feed to power the relay powering the pump. This kept the electrical feed during starting. (most of the AUX components have the power feed cut off during turn over)
