Jumped in with both feet

Post by Kieron g »

Hi and thanks for having me on board.
I went on girlfriend's FB market place and now own a 1988 BX16 RS.
I 'think' it's a good one but I'm sure there will be a lot of work to get this car on the road and make it nice.
I know very little about these BX's but eager to learn.
The suspension has collapsed and leaked out. The exhaust is shot, Drivers door top hinge mounting badly repaired (have to lift door a bit to open it). Wiring into boot has been chopped off and hole plugged. I'm sure loads more....
It's been in a garage since 2003 and 60,000 recorded miles.
I've got some ZX volcane wheels which I think would look really good on this car (one day).
I have got a lot of research to do and will scour this site for answers before asking questions. :-)

Great news that you have bought and will save a BX which is now a rare species. Sounds like it will keep you busy for a while.
The Joy of BX with just one Citroën BX to my name now. Will I sing Bye Bye to my GTI or will it be Till death us do part.

I once put 16v speedlines on a Volcane. Maybe one day we will see the reverse 🙂
Prefer it to the Lamborghini, like Signor Gandini!

Thanks for welcome. It is a nice car and this is an impulse buy I'm not regretting.
There is a lot of character in the design and I'm well pleased to own one.

I can see by your signature that you like your Citroens and I can guarantee the BX is like no other car you've had before - I remember my GTi well 8)

Yes I always get on well with the older more simple Peugeot and Citroen models.
To own / repair a practical car with the iconic Citroen design and suspension will be great. ( although I just read Peugeot had a big hand in the development as well )
After watching a video link on this site to the rust on a 16v I think I need to get some waxoyl into the structure of this one as a priority job.
