Not possible. The pump is driven off the camshaft, which would need an intact cambelt to work.
I'd guess it's an old photo of the car.

Agreed dave, if you look in the top corner of the photo it sats autotrader.co.uk, so either that where he bought it or tried to sell it before it broke, or its a picture hes nicked and that not his car!

I'd say it's not the car, the number plate looks like it's been pasted onto an old photo.

This car was an the autotrader recently. I seem to remember it being described as a bit of a minter with low mileage.
