Thank you! I adore this specific BX wheel trim. Shame that they are quite rare. Our two BXs are now strangely even more similar. Same carburettor and same wheel trims!
saintjamesy89 wrote: Tue Mar 19, 2024 11:05 pm Shame about the carb, that is kind of what mine was doing before I got a new one - turned out to be a worn throttle flap bush/spindle. Apparently the only way to fix is to replace the spindle and bushes (parts no longer exist of course), or... a new carb. Fingers crossed that isn't your problem
That is what I was told by the chap who offered to rebuild it. However, in former Yugoslavia everything can be fixed. This Solex carb was the one all "S" BXs had fitted (we never got the GT, only the (T)RS and TZS with the 1.6). A common remedy for faulty Solex carbs back in the day was to replace them with the carb from a 1.7 Lada Samara. However we are certain that even if the flap/spindles are bad they can be jerry rigged together and made to work. Regardless, I'm glad that the BX is finally getting a refreshed carburettor. It had terrible fuel economy and lackluster performance since 2021. With this I'm hoping it'll actually be a fun car to drive again (like it was for a brief time in 2023 when the carb functioned correctly).
Anyway, yours had the same issue? So, idle and repeated full throttle would work fine, but as soon as you tried to apply a more medium throttle it would (violently) stall, correct?

Here is what the carb looks like. It's being sent off for rebuilding.

Great news about the carb, glad you have found a way to fix it!

Yes, when i had problems full throttle on mine was fine, as was idling - but anything inbetween not so much!

So it's really the same exact issue. Upon closer inspection by the carb specialist, it was determined that the issue was that a part of the carb was assembled incorrectly. A part of the base of the carb was slightly bowed up, enough to cause a fuel leak. This was just surface level though, the specialist will completely disassemble the carb and go over everything.

Carb has been rebuilt (again). Hopefully this time it'll actually function correctly.

Did a quick photo session with the BX a bit ago. I can't wait to properly clean it up and get to driving it with the newly rebuilt carb!

So, as I'm waiting patiently for the carb to be installed (and later adjusted), I have been thinking up new cosmetics for my BX. Namely I wanted to see if I can get some nice pinstripes on it. I have been thinking up some designs today. I can either put a stripe just above the rubber trim on the side, or on the crease above the door handle. I'm leaning towards the crease. This is the design I mocked up. I will be happy to hear the input of the greater BX community. Is it good? Is it bad? Do you recommend any improvements? Again, I would love to hear your opinions.

I prefer the stripe above the rubbing strip - but then I would :D

I made a mockup of what that would look like.

Maybe more of a colour contrasting one, possibly red.

I did make this one before.

I will make one which replicates the graphics on the GTs with the red stripe. Would be fitting considering that, aside from the 1.6, mine is basically a cut down GT anyway (same carb, same wheel trims).

I made some new combinations.

1. GT replica

2. GT replica (monochromatic)

3. Top crease (red and black)
