Does anyone know a way to determine which type of TZD I actually have??
The rear of the car simply says TZD Turbo.
So is it a 1769cc turbo diesel, or could it be a 1.9??
I always thought that a TD could only be a 1769cc.
How to I work it out?
. . .and another strange thing, I have a Bosch fuel filter, and a Lucas CAV injection unit (and injectors too?).
??isnt that a bit odd for a TD??
EXACT car ID??
EXACT car ID??

It`ll be a 1.7 as opposed to a 1.9 as I believe they didn`t make a 1.9TD. On your country`s version of the British log book it should tell you the cc of the engine. The 1.9 is 1905cc and the 1.7 is something like 1769cc if my memory serves me correctly.
I can`t see a problem with the fuel filters being different: maybe that`s all that was available when the previous owner had it serviced? Personally speaking I wouldn`t worry too much as long as it runs o.k.

Vauxhall apologist.
The BX was NEVER made with the later 1.9L turbo.
All turbo BX'es are with the 1.7L diesel ONLY.
Naaaahhhh ... except for a single UK specie modified and owned by ... ? (big grin )
Mine is correctly badged TRDturbo - and have the XUD7TE engine - which is the 1.7Ldiesel fitted with a turbo.
The papers say 1.9L diesel though ...
Look at the engine block rear next time down under to fix the exhaust - and you will find "7TE" casted into the block. The abbreviation for XUD7TE.

everyone has one these days, nothing clever about having a 1.9td anymore
There is a rumour that there was a few very very late 1.9TD's from the factory on L-reg, not sure i believe it but i live in hope of one day finding one of these mythical beasts!
Joolie, got any pics of your engine bay?
you can also tell what the engine is by the engine plate rivetted to the front of the block (three characters, starts with a D, about 15mm wide and 10mm tall)
