mulley! dont get too confused matey!
yeah the safest slightly more boring way is to stick with the std wheels but, its not that tricky getting alloys fo rhte car! all ford 4 studs will fit with a varying degree of spacers, all of the cit pug 4 studs will fit! older straight on newer with spacers!
the fitment for the bx is the same as the saxo, 106, xsara fitment matey! (just make sure its minimum et15 max et20 - 22 will fit but a bit of a squeeze!) so there is plenty of options!
the reason i changed mine is that i didnt like the std wheels! the way they look! the dont really suit the Phase 2 16v!! 15's are a good way to improve the handling slightly and the looks a lot!
if you want any more help matey drop me a pm!

Many thanks everyone for your help/suggestions, ive decided to play it safe/boring. Not wanting to have issues with the handling & suspension comfort, i have hopefully sourced some nice original bx 16v alloys which should be just the job.

Just got to arrange to collect them, i think there are 5, so even the spare will be an alloy. Once i get them i will let everyone know what they are like & what tyres i will fit.

I have been looking at a website called mytyres.co.uk which seem to have a comprehensive selection.

So, should i fit 195/60's or 185/60s? The 8v is supposed to have the smaller one's while the 16v te larger ones apparently, does it make much difference?

All answers greatfully received.

Sorry another question, does anyone run their car with winter tyres? if so what rubber do you use?

Cheers

I personally think 185`s will be the best for your car. They should be reasonably cheap to source new if you shop around and you`ll find a huge array of makes available, I`m sure the good people of this forum will help out with advice as to what grips or wears the best.

185's willbe fine matey! i seriously doubt that anyone could tell the difference between the 195's and 185's! end of the day the difference equates to 6mm!
i run 185's on my 16v rims with no issues!
dont be overly suprised if the hweel cage is a big struggle to get on again with a 16v alloy in there!

if you want to retain good handling etc then 15" wheels are almost top size! 16's are best of both worlds as regards to handling and looks but tyres arnt cheap! and 15's look alright too!

The 16v alloys (graphite) are designed for 195/60 (R)14's. Pirelli P6000s in that size are not expensive. That would be my suggestion. :D

you are true there phil and i know what your saying matey! but the 6"wide 16v rims are perfectly happy on 185's!!!! in fact i would say a little less tyre flex generated through the tyres too!

I bet the majority could't tell just from driving whether they were on 185 or 195s. I think a wider tyre looks a bit better, but that's just subjective.

It's a choice down to individual preference and budget in the end. I'm sure in the end you will find what's right for you. Happy hunting

(Oh, and unless you live in northern Europe/Scandinavia I wouldn't worry about winter tyres although if running 195s and you get snow, be careful - you could always have winter wheel/tyres like a set of standard steels with 175s...

Dare i say, if you let your good lady drive your car then the 195's may be better as they offer greater distance between curb and alloy !!!!!!!!! :D :D :D
