Slight judder

Post by Gareth Wales »

There's a VERY slight SINGLE judder from the engine direction when it first fires. Is this something to worry about?
I've checked all the moutings I can see, and there's nothing obviously loose or out of line out there.

Hi Gareth,

It may be the bottom engine mount...

A check can be made as follows:
1. Start the engine and select high position on the suspension.
2. When in high position, stop the engine.
3. Now position your self so that you can see the front engine mount.
4. Now operate the starter, and observe how much movement there is back and forth. Little movement indicates a good bush, large movement indicates the bush is shot and needs replacement.

If you can't carry ouy the task on your own, ask a colleague to operate the starter while you observe the engine mount.

Also:

While you are in the position, start and stop the engine a few times, as movement is present also when the engine is stopped.

Remember - For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction...

Good Luck
