Good home wanted for GTi 8v Auto

Post by db1 »

Upgrading to something with air con and I suspect if I trade it in, yes the Cit dealer will take it, it will end up in the knackers yard. ( SWMBO says retro fitting a/c is *not* on :-( ) So a good home wanted. May '91, platinum silver, 190K - Don't laugh, run from completion of running in on full synthetic - no smoke.

Still pulls 120+ on the Autobahn. Complete record of all work done and no expense has been spared. Bought as ex demo with 1500 miles on the clock. Just had a hydraulic overhaul of seals and new regulator. Rear arms done recently. New kickdown cable fitted to auto box which requires partial dismantling and the specialist found nothing amiss.

Excellent condition for year and mileage, taxed to Feb 07, MOT September - I expect it to pass.

Will almost certainly be at the CCC Stratford rally in September.

Someone keep me from a broken heart, make a reasonable offer, and give her the TLC she needs.

Hi what do you call reasonable? Where are you and what mileage are we talking about? General condition and things like this would be good to know.
Cheers.

This car is dark silver/grey.

It was at the CCC National Rally. I think it has aftermarket wheel trims on it.

I was interested some time back before i bought the TZD but the owner wasnt quite ready to sell.

Hope it finds a good home.

Ah sorry apologies missed the 190k got stopped by the"autobahn" bit and was trying to work out wether it was Kilo or whatever. My fault, autobahn equates to Germany in my mind. so I was getting confused.
A price would have been good because it would mean that I could work out if it was worth persuing.
Thank you.
Geoff.

I was parked up next to this car at Huntingdon, briefly spoke to the owner and he said at the time he wanted air con!

Looked quite clean and tidy....this is the best pic I have of, well, bits of it (I stood on my sill to get an overview pic, its a trademark)

My problem is I have no idea really. I meant to keep it for years yet. For one thing I would like to see her go through 200K miles :-)

But SWMBO is demanding Air con. She has it on her little Jap car and does not see why we have to swelter on a long distance run. :-(

I spent 700 GBP on her this year alone (the car not SWMBO ) I have talked a dealer into around 500 against a new C5 estate. But as I said before, I am afraid it will end up at a scrappy if I do. It is *far* too good for that.

I paid £150 for the Auto I bought 6 week ago, its done half the miles but did need a bit of TLC. IT owes me around £500 all told now with spheres, paint etc etc.

DB1, thanks for putting us traight. Hopefully someone will buy it off you, it sounds like it deserves a good home.
As regards being offered £500 for it against a new Citroen they`d almost certainly knock that amount off for cash/finance anyhow as they will, unfortunately, almost certainly scrap your BX if they took it in
