GSF for parts?
GSF for parts?
Is GSF generally the cheapest suppliers, i'm going to be looking at a bulk order of around £280 (thought it was gonna be more ) for the TZD project would it pay me to shop around for better prices and are the parts generally good quality from GSF?

Compare prices at http://www.gsfcarparts.com/ and http://www.eurocarparts.co.uk/ to give you some idea. Both offer free delivery for orders of £50 or over.

Cheers Barry,
on it now, got a list for my locals spares also, might get more discount if ordering bulk in person anyways. I let you all know how it goes.

I checked them out, they seem very reasonable, I started traipsing through the usual way, why can't these sites have check boxs, I have to click add, then navigate all the way back to add the item underneath, it's very time consuming and the price diffence is pence so i'm sticking with my original GSF list. My local spares place although very reliable and friendly and alright for single items can't compete on a large order, nearly £100 more. My current list is at £189 inc VAT for the TZD, I still have the heater fan to inspect but Tom had kindly given me some pointers before I start throwing £££'s at it. I'm still very impressed with those alloys on your GT, they look the dogs danglies!!!!

I've only used AEP once --- I ordered about £60 worth of stuff including two front spheres, a speedo cable, LHM, and some transmission oil. I noticed that the two IFHS spheres that they supplied had the tamper proof seals broken and that they were date stamped April '04, so I complained and they then sent me two genuine Citroen spheres in sealed boxes and did not ask me to return the IFHS ones. The genuine Citroen spheres have a code of 4-173 AB which presumably means day 173 year 2004. I don't really know how quickly spheres degrade on the shelf but I would be much happier if they were less than 6 months old. But this problem is not unique to AEP --- I would be happy to use them again.

All spheres degrade on the shelf, only occasionaly does one variety or other seem to last better. Useful bargaining point if offered NOS spheres - but never rely on them being OK - consider them as suitable for a get-home backup and pay accordingly.
Back on two wheels and pedal power for the moment.
