Accumulator Sphere

Post by Brian »

Accumulator sphere split it's diaphragm, car would not pump up due to the gas in the LHM.

Took about 6 mins to get the car to rise, then frantic ticking of the regulator.

This is the first one that has split on me.
Purchased from GSF under 2 years old, unfortunately only 1 year guarantee :( ....

I think Westeron give a 3 year guarantee :) ..

£12.69 + VAT from Euro Car Parts for what appears to be genuine Cit part.

Well, I just looked up the Euro web site, and Accumulator spheres are listed as 620545231 @ £4.58!!!...
Genuine ones 620545235 @ £12.69 ...

I phoned to see if it was a miss print, and the lad informs me is was not, and they are in date..

So will pick up a couple tomorrow...
If they last 1 year, that has to be good value...

And I will put my sphere pressure tester in the boot, and pressure test them while at the branch...

Thanks Baldbazza for the info...

As far as I'm aware (and Kitch will correct me if I'm wrong  ) part no 620545231 @ £4.58 is likely to be a regassed sphere, whereas 620545235 @ £12.69 are likely to be genuine branded Citroen (my rears were genuine Cit spheres, complete with little chevrons, for £12.73).

Personally, I'd pay the extra 8 squid......

More details on Kitch's post (5th one down) here. (How do you quote a message directly???)

I can confirm that the cheap Accumulator spheres are in fact re gassed..

Both have chisel marks on the out side rim, and date stamped 10/04.

No sealing rings, but they are both holding about 61 Bar, so stand a good chance of lasting a while, we shall see.

Smokes lots, because enough's enough already!

Far too many BX's, a bus, an ambulance a few trucks, not enough time and never enough cash...

Phone your branch first ,as may not be in stock, they will set up an account, no charge.

The ordered parts are delivered overnight, so ready for collection next day, very impressed...
