The guy has just rang me, it was registered in Dec 89 but is a 1990 Model, the K plate is a private one.
One owner, 280,000 miles (anyone beat that for a petrol), new engine & clutch last year, new exhaust & good tyres.
Factory alloys, no aircon.
Sounds like a genuine guy who has really looked after it, if it doesn't sell he'll keep using it.
Oh nearly forgot it's Red

To be fair Tim, its alledgedly a new engine last year so from that point of view could be considered low mileage. After all the other items are similar to the diesels and these boys claim longevity.tim leech wrote:I woudnt buy a petrol with nearly 300000miles on it!Not for £350 anyway!
Incidentally as a car salesman do you know the answer on the registration rules

Strange that, it depends when it was first registered, it may have been built and then sat for a couple of years before registering or could have been a import. Its a bit of a grey area, for example my SD1 is a 1979 but was imported in 1997, and was given a age related plate to going on when it was manufactured not when it was registered,. It was built in July 79 so would be a T plate but as it wasnt registered until august 1979 it should have should have really been a V but its a T reg.
Mind you the DVLA ar a bunch of useless baboons!

Thats what the guy told me, he seemed a real genuine bloke as well, My veiw on mileage is it depends what you want, For an everyday car i would avoid 281,000 but as a second car just to play with & take to the odd show thats different.
I like them in Red & if i didn't have one i'd seriously consider it

I wouldn`t be too put off by the odometer reading. It wouldn`t have got anywhere near that kind of mileage without being very well maintained and if it`s tested as well it should be reasonably good. Possibly worth using the mileage as a lever to knock the price down, but it wouldn`t put me off if I was in the market for one.
Anyhow, think of the fun when you get to take it to 500K-surely you`d have the highest miler in the club then?
