I think the black ones with holes are used on ZX and maybe Xantia - but - be careful - BX hack hubs have a locating pin and ZX rims don't have the hole - as I found out when I thought I'd nick a wheel from the ZX for our holiday a couple of years ago.
The later black wheels where fitted as standard to some of the later BX models, TZDs had these as did some of the TX series cars, I dont knwo what benefit they had, maybe it was to streamline it along with some of the peugeot models at that time.

Tim, I may have one here. I`ll check this afternoon or evening and let you know. Incidentally, haven`t forgotten about the alloys so will keep you posted on those too.
If I have got a spare steel it`ll be free to a good home (you) mate!
The solid centred BX wheels have always surprised me a bit - as I thought that an opportunity to get some brake cooling had been missed at the expense of dirty wheels.
Citroen can't have regarded this source of cooling as useful as the 16 valve alloys dpn't encourage air circulation either.
I expect the change was a manufacturing rationalisation - and may have saved a few pence for no loss (or even an improvement.)

Jeremy, sorry to sound pedantic but I always thought solid centre wheels were like the Pug 205 1.6 GTi wheels where there was no actual centre hole meaning on car balancing only?
I think I know the BX wheels you mean though, later ones seemed to have changed to `holey ones`!
I definitely have a very good spare wheel from a valver which is FOC to anyone collecting it and I think I still have 2 std steel rims with shot tyres that are also FOC for collection.
Mid Lincs though LN10 5ET
