So he`s had a 16 year old car (which he bought when it was a year old) for twenty years? HTF does that work :?:
Still, certainly looks the part and might be a nice car for someone. Ian, how about a twin for your missus`s car?

The seller of this car has also sent me an email, and according to the headers has sent the same email to a fair number of club members here.

Which as far as I'm concerned is spam.

And also makes me wonder if he's been able to harvest email addresses from the PHPbb forum. Hmm.

He also clearly has no idea what he's selling as he's described it as a "BX 19 2.0 auto" Le fool.

I wouldn't be too hard on the chap. He's just being enterprising. After all he's not trying sell Viagra. We are (obviously) a good place to try and sell a BX

I guess if this sort of thing starts to happen we should remove our e-mail address from the profile.

Can`t deny it`s very nice looking car (in the pictures at least) though maybe a lower start price would encourage more bids?
I`m still waiting for Mr Fearn to say he`s bought it :D

If you dont want unsolicited email - set your email address to be hidden in your profile settings - that way the only way anyone (3rd party) can see it is if they have admin privilages.
Use the PM system (which is private and not accessible even by admin members) to safely contact each other and avoid "Spam*"

I had a look at this as maybe a stop gap for dad while I put his back together but I think he wants too much and dont think it'll sell.
Hoping to be proved wrong though!

Too much for me!

Those sneaky spammers are getting craftier now. I`ve had a pm through a Vauxhall site from some spamming turnip asking for payment details. Reported to admin who`ve banned him BUT... said spammer provided e-mail address and a mobile number. O.K, the e-mail is only a Yahoo one but I`m going to `test` his mobile number later. If it rings and he answers (I`ll test him on the phone) then both mobile number and e-mail address are going to be plastered on the web on every available site I can find!

Good man! Feel free to pass his number on to me if it works.
I had a similar experiance a while ago, the ar$epiece pestering me and others ended up with his home and mobile numbers being printed in adult directories and 5000 business cards advertising "cheap rent boy" in phone boxes all over london / bristol / swindon!
Revenge is sweet! :D

Cheers

Only 5000?

Post by Geoffrey Gould »

Only 5000 my goodness you were slipping, my son, ah or is that why you needed a new printer
I had a look as well but thought that low miles and an auto box, I wondered if the fluid had been changed that often?
Also got an enthuseastic E mail as well. OK he is trying hard, cant blame him for that , but it put me off.
Thanks for the thought mate, if it was £350-00 I would be tempted, sort of.
Cheers.

It is apparent that he's also being a bit of a pain in the arse, as I sent a very short email reply to him suggesting that if he wanted to make the car known to the BXclub, then he'd be better putting a post on the forum rather than spamming the members.

The reply I got back from him, rather than being apologetic for sending spam email (which is technically illegal) was somewhat rude and derogatory.

Not exactly the way to sell a car!
