Rear number plate lights

Post by Neil »

Dear BX fans,

One of my number plate lamps has popped out as a lug has broken off. If anyone has one available, please let me know the price, including postage.

Please e-mail me on nwatson@kennedys.co.uk

Thank you

Sorry for the delayed response! Thank you for the e-mail. Yes, it's for a Hatchback - a 1989 BX 16 RE.

Hi,

I have repaired 3 of mine in the past, and they are still functioning.

Providing you still have the broken plastic retainer, all I did was this:

Stick some suitable thickness spingy foam under the retainer, then stick the other side of the foam to the body of the light.

As a precaution, use a cable tie from the rear of the light to the cable, this will hold it place even if the clip fails.

Good luck

And a LED as well. Do you use a resistor in series? - if so what value?

Yes, for the single leds, I used a 560 Ohm resistor..

For the interior lights, I use 4 leds in series, and no limiting resistor, have not blown any yet !!!...

I just cable tied mine around the wiper motor housing. Worked fine.

Unortunately I have lost the lug, Brian.

I just wondered if Cavmad had any success in finding a replacement?

Thanks to you all.

Hi Neil,

Ok, if you tie it back to a solid part of the hatch lid with either cable ties, strong elastic bands, wire or similar, then it does not require the lug to hold it in place..

Good luck
